🏙️ Cities & Logistics Conference

On 29 April, APLOG - Associação Portuguesa de Logística. brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss one of the most pressing challenges for modern cities: urban logistics.

With rising e-commerce demand, increasing congestion and growing environmental pressures, the discussions highlighted the urgent need for smarter, more coordinated solutions. Key topics included low-emission zones, urban and regional logistics hubs, optimised loading and unloading processes, and the role of digitalisation, electrification and smart route planning.

A clear takeaway: only through strong collaboration between public authorities, logistics providers and businesses can we create more efficient, sustainable and liveable urban environments.

Thank you to APLOG and all participants for an insightful and forward-looking exchange.

European Supply Chain Day 2026 at E3, Trinity College Dublin

E3, Trinity College Dublin is proud to host a vibrant series of events celebrating European Supply Chain Day 2026 alongside Ireland’s 4th Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Week. This nationwide initiative brings together students, industry leaders, educators, and innovators to spotlight the exciting career pathways shaping the future of logistics and supply chain management. It also showcases Ireland’s growing leadership in green transformation, digital innovation, and the development of sustainable, resilient supply chains that can compete on a global stage.

At the heart of the 2026 programme are three themes that reflect the challenges and opportunities facing the sector today:

Global — embracing international connectivity and the evolving dynamics of global trade.

Innovative — accelerating digitalisation, automation, and new technologies that redefine how supply chains operate.

Resilient — building systems capable of withstanding disruption while supporting Ireland’s economic and environmental ambitions.

Together, these themes frame a week of learning, collaboration, and inspiration—positioning Ireland’s next generation of supply chain professionals at the forefront of a rapidly changing world.

📊 European Supply Chain Risk Indicator (ESCRI) – Update

We are pleased to share that the first ESCRI report for Q2 2026 is now complete and available for download.

The global situation remains unsettled and for European supply chain managers, this means one thing in particular: complexity and risk in supply planning continues to increase. While the overall index rose only slightly from 70.31 to 71.15 since the first report, the results point to a significant shift in the risk landscape. At the same time, many companies are strengthening supply chain resilience through strategic measures, even as new geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are increasing uncertainty, cost pressure, and disruption risks.

Among the key insights for top management are:
🔹Transport disruptions as the strongest driver of risk, with transport risk rising to 85.19
🔹A shift from energy price concerns to energy security concerns, with economic risk reaching 80.84
🔹Accelerating strategic sourcing and de-risking efforts, including second-source development and make-or-buy shifts
🔹A positive digital signal, as practical AI applications and prior cybersecurity investments are beginning to strengthen operational resilience

Nearly two thirds of global trade now runs through value chains reshaped by geopolitics, industrial policy and new technologies. 🌍

This is why supply chains can no longer be managed on cost and efficiency alone. When conditions shift overnight, advantage belongs to those who adapt faster, stay connected and turn technology into capability.

That is the context for Logistics Congress / Logistični kongres.

From 8–10 April 2026 in 📍Portorož, Slovenia, the Congress will bring together 800+ decision‑makers, managers, innovators, researchers and business leaders from 25+ countries.

It unites industry, transport, logistics services, technology providers, academia, young talent and professional associations in one place.

The focus is clear: global shifts and their impact, technology modernisation in practice, and the people and success stories behind leading logistics companies.
The programme spans:
➡️ Future of Logistics
➡️ Artificial Intelligence Festival
➡️ International Academic Symposium
➡️ IoT in Industry and Logistics
➡️ We have succeeded. How did we achieve this?
➡️ TelematicsCEEurope Conference & Expo
and
💥 International Student Hackathon
💥 B2B Matchmaking.

The question is no longer whether disruption will come. It is whether we are prepared when it does. Resilience today is not just a back‑up plan. It is visibility, faster decision‑making, stronger cross‑border connections and the ability to adapt before disruption becomes lost time, lost capacity or lost competitiveness.

The value of a congress like this is simple:
bringing the right people into the room before the next disruption arrives. Connect. Innovate. Lead.

The value of certification does not lie in obtaining it.
It lies in what changes afterwards — in practice.

At the upcoming Reunion & , organized by the ILME – Hellenic Institute for Logistics Management, we have deliberately chosen to open a meaningful discussion with certified professionals around a simple yet critical question:

👉 What really changes after certification?
• Where it has a real impact on day-to-day work
• How it influences decisions, roles, and career development
• What ultimately makes it valuable
No generalities.
No theory.
Only real experiences and clear takeaways.
Objective of the discussion:
✔ highlight the real value of certification
✔ encourage those in the pipeline to complete the process
✔ re-engage the certified professionals community
If you have gone through the process — or are currently in it — it is worth being there.
In addition to the panel discussion, which I have the pleasure to moderate, there will be five speed discussion tables focusing on key topics such as:
• How ILME can strengthen its communication approach to further promote and deepen the impact of certification in Greece
• What can be improved in the training process, identifying current gaps and weak points
• What can be improved in the examination and certification process, focusing on areas that need refinement
• How to attract more new candidates to certification
• How to increase the retention rate, and what each of us — as well as ILME — can do to support this
