1. Explore opportunities and challenges related to Freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), humanitarian assistance, volunteerism and youths;

2. Contribute to EU policy in the Church’s fields of interest;

3. Expand, de

epen and promote knowledge and expertise on FoRB in Europe;

4. Foster dialogue among opinion leaders, religious leaders, academics and officials engaged in FoRB issues at multi-national organizations and in their home countries. The European Union & International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a registered organization in the Transparency Register.

On June 3, the EU & International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted "Shaping a Shared Future: EU–Africa Relations" — a diplomatic dinner at the European Parliament in Brussels.

Together with Hon. Ruggero Razza, Member of the European Parliament, the Office welcomed ambassadors, EU officials, and civil society leaders for an evening of open conversation on the future of Europe–Africa relations.

The discussion was candid and wide-ranging. Participants reflected on the evolving nature of the Europe–Africa relationship and the importance of dialogue, shared investment, and strategies developed in collaboration by both sides.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has over one million members across Africa and supported more than 3,300 humanitarian and community projects on the continent between 2022 and 2025. The Office is committed to fostering spaces where these kinds of conversations can take place.

On May 12–14, 26 young adults from more than a dozen European countries gathered in Brussels for the Brussels Nexus Conference — a three-day program organized by the EU & International Affairs Office of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, exploring the intersection of faith, public life, religious freedom, and family policy.

Participants visited the European Parliament and the European Commission, heard from Church leaders and civic figures, and took part in panel discussions on humanitarian work and interfaith partnerships.

Moments like these show what it looks like when faith and civic life walk hand in hand.

On May 12, 2026, leaders and experts from across Europe and North America gathered in Brussels for the Brussels Family Policy Exchange, a conversation centered on the challenges and opportunities facing families today.

Discussions focused on demographic change, work-life balance, social connection, and the role families continue to play in shaping strong communities and societies.

The exchange brought together voices from government, academia, media, and faith communities to share perspectives and ideas on supporting families in a changing world.

Following the policy exchange, , Vice President of the European Parliament, was awarded The European Family Values Award.

"A Europe that supports families is a Europe that believes in tomorrow. A Europe that invests in children is a Europe that invests in hope," Vice President Sberna spoke during her acceptance speech, "And when we speak about the future, we inevitably speak about families, children, education, solidarity between generations, and the dignity of every human person."

On March 24, we had the privilege of hosting the roundtable "Caring for Those in Need: Collective Responses to Global Crises," bringing together humanitarian partners, public officials, and faith leaders.

We were especially grateful for the insights shared by Presiding Bishop W. Christopher Waddell, Elder Rubén V. Alliaud, and Dániel Solymári (Hungary Helps), along with valued partners including Mamar Merzouk (UN World Food Programme) and Jean-Yves Terlinden (Caritas Europa).

Their reflections were a powerful reminder that humanitarian work is not just about responding to needs—but about working together with compassion, trust, and a shared sense of purpose.

The newly released 2025 Caring for Those in Need report reflects this shared effort—made possible through collaboration, compassion, and countless individuals quietly doing good every day. We are thankful to all who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful conversation.

The EU & International Affairs Office had the great pleasure of hosting a celebratory dinner in honor of International Women's Day earlier this week. We welcomed women from both diplomatic and civic communities, as well as our keynote speaker Dr. Maria-Georgiana Teodorescu, Member of the European Parliament from Romania.

We are so grateful to all of the women who joined us and participated in our exchange regarding the essential roles women play. May we all come together this next week in celebration of all women throughout the world.

In celebration of the upcoming International Women's Day this next week, we had the pleasure of hosting a roundtable which highlighted how freedom of religion or belief helps women flourish, as individuals and as contributors to their community.

We were honored to welcome Dr. Adina Portaru, senior counsel at ADF International; Katharina von Schnurbein, European Commission Coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life; and Marcela Szymanski, Head of International Advocacy at Aid to the Church in Need, as our roundtable panelists. We sincerely appreciated the time they spent with us and the thoughtful perspectives they shared.

We are so grateful to all of those who attended our roundtable, and may we all continue to celebrate women, not only this week, but throughout the year.
