The European Union is launching a new edition of the EU-funded Fellowship programme. the fellowship is designed to support civil society activists or civically minded women and men who demonstrate a deep commitment to leading positive social change in various fields, including digitalisation.

The aim of this event is to discuss how the digital cooperation with the EaP countries should look like in future. In particular, the event is aiming at identifying challenges and opportunities linked to the future relationship between the EU and its Eastern Neighbourhood in terms of digital development and possible integration to the EU Digital Single Market. The issue-areas to be discussed at the event will include cooperation on e-government, data and cyber security, digital divide, ICT innovations and digital skills.

We are delighted to announce that European Digital Development Alliance now hosts the Digital Democracy Database!

It includes 50 countries and over 1000 e-democracy cases systematically described and classified according to a unified conceptual framework.

This is a volunteer collaborative effort of an international team of 40 analysts who collected, coded, and reviewed data for 10 months - and now it's finally out!

The database is open and available for free. You are welcome to use it for your academic research, teaching, policy making, community development, and other non-commercial purposes.

May e-participation and open governance become stronger!

The EU member states signed the Berlin Declaration on Digital Society and Value-based Digital Government.

This online event aims to explore how the EU could help its partner countries in Africa to better respond to two main digital challenges: connectivity/affordability of internet and lack of digital skills. The online discussion will also inform decision-makers from the EU, its member states and partner countries on digital development challenges and opportunities ahead of the EU-Africa Summit.

It aims to identify, structure, and remit the risks of electronic voting by offering practical solutions for countering them. In the context of a wider electoral reform, after a cost-benefit analysis has been performed and the introduction of internet voting has been decided upon, this paper can help foresee presumable challenges and refute ungrounded objections.

It is intended as a reference for politicians, public officials, civic activists, and citizens overall for preventing, detecting, and mitigating i-voting misuse, safeguarding e-democracy against distortions, and strengthening good governance.
