📚 Back to Learning at Qantara Peace Centre ✏️

🏫 As the school year continues, our supplementary lessons and homework support are back at Qantara Peace Centre, offering children a space to study, ask questions, work through challenges, and strengthen what they learn in school.

✏️ For many children, education comes with challenges that extend beyond the classroom. Having someone to guide them through their homework, explain a difficult lesson, or encourage them to keep trying can make a real difference in their learning journey.

🌱 Through these sessions, we aim to support children in their education while helping them develop the confidence, skills, and motivation to keep learning. Our Peace Centre provides a space where children can learn together, receive individual support, and approach their schoolwork with greater confidence.

🤝 These lessons are part of our ongoing commitment to making education and learning support accessible to children in our community. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a future with more possibilities.

🤍 Your support helps us keep these educational opportunities available to the children who need them. By donating to Relief & Reconciliation, you help us sustain our Peace Centres and continue creating spaces where children can learn, feel supported, and reach their potential.

🙏 Help us make learning accessible to every child. Donate today and invest in their future.

🎭 The Shadow Theatre Story Continues on Stage

The Youth Leaders of Relief & Reconciliation brought their shadow theatre performance back to the stage, this time at Rahbe Theatre, giving the young people the opportunity to perform their work in front of an audience in a space dedicated to theatre.

🎬 Guided by Zina Hakeem, the performance was the result of a process that went beyond the final show. Through rehearsals, discussions and creative work, the Youth Leaders developed the shadow theatre piece together, finding their own ways to tell a story through light, silhouettes and movement, and bring it to life on stage.

🌱 For the young people involved, shadow theatre became a space to experiment, express themselves and work together. Each performance was a chance to build confidence, take responsibility and see their ideas move from a workshop into something they could share with others.

👏 A special thank you to Zina Hakeem for her work and guidance throughout the process, and to the Youth Leaders of Relief & Reconciliation for the time, creativity and commitment they put into the performance.

🎬 The afternoon continued with a screening of Porco Rosso, the beloved animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The screening was part of the Cinema Club, a project initiated and led by Samir, which creates opportunities for young people and audiences to come together through film. Bringing theatre and cinema together created another opportunity to share an afternoon of storytelling, imagination and art.

💛 Help us continue creating opportunities for young people through art, theatre and creative expression. Donate today to support our work and help bring more stories to the stage.

🎨 Art in Akkar: Rural Culture Without Borders 🌿

🖼️ Art in Akkar brought together renowned international artists, local artists, volunteers, and young people from our Peace Centres, creating a space where different experiences, backgrounds, and forms of creativity could meet in the heart of rural Akkar.

🎭 Throughout the summer, this creative journey took many forms: sculpture, photography, film, mosaics, paintings, music, theatre, and movies — each workshop giving children and young people a different way to explore, create, and express themselves.

🤝 The exhibition was not simply a display of finished works. It was the result of weeks of encounters, workshops, experimentation, and collaboration between international volunteers, local artists, teachers, and the young people who brought their own ideas and perspectives into the process.

🌍 Art in Akkar is a reminder that culture does not need borders. It can travel, meet, transform, and grow through the people who share it.

🙏 A heartfelt thank you to all the artists, volunteers, teachers, youth leaders, children, families, and everyone who contributed their time, creativity, and energy to making Art in Akkar possible.

🤍 Your support helps us keep these creative and educational spaces alive. Donate to Relief & Reconciliation and help us continue giving children and young people the opportunity to learn, create, and express themselves.

✨ Thank you for helping us make art without borders.

Artistic Liberty | Summer at Relief & Reconciliation

🌿 This summer at Relief & Reconciliation, our Peace Centres became spaces for creative exploration. What began with summer classes grew into a season of theatre, photography, creative writing, sculpture, visual art, and cinema.

🎭 From Zeina’s theatre workshop to Lukas Maier’s analogue photography sessions, Stephen’s sculpture workshop, Fatima Israel’s art workshop, creative writing, and Samir’s Cinema Club, young people had the opportunity to experiment, create, and find their own ways of expressing themselves.

🎬 But art can also provoke. The screening of The Cairo Conspiracy through our Cinema Club sparked controversy and opened a wider conversation about artistic freedom: Can art challenge us? Can it make us uncomfortable? And should it be allowed to?

🖼️ These questions are especially relevant as we bring many of these creative journeys together through Art in Akkar.

🎥 In our new YouTube video, our director, Friedrich Bokern, reflects on this summer of creativity and discusses what artistic liberty means, why art should be free to question and challenge us, and how creative spaces can inspire meaningful conversation.

🗿 Shaping Ideas Through Sculpture ✨

👐 At our Peace Centre in Qantara, young participants are getting their hands dirty and exploring the world of sculpture with Stephen, our volunteer from New Zealand.

🎨 Through the workshop, the children are learning to work with different materials and techniques, turning simple ideas into forms they can see, touch, and reshape. Each piece becomes an opportunity to experiment, make mistakes, and try something new.

🌿 Sculpture offers a different kind of expression. Instead of putting an idea into words or onto a page, the students can give it a physical form, discovering how their hands and imagination can work together.

🤝 Like our other creative workshops, the aim is not simply to produce a finished object. It is to give young people the freedom to explore, create, and develop confidence in their own ideas while learning alongside one another.

✨ We’re looking forward to seeing how these first experiments take shape and what the young artists of Qantara will create next.
