We respond to the basic needs in our Brussels community by preparing and distributing sustainable nourishment through direct, customized interaction with our patrons, benefitting both the population served and those who ACT. FAQs:
- On-site volunteering and food distribution every Tu
esday, 09:30 - 14:00.
- Coffee service: 09:30 - 12:30
- Food service: 11:15 - 12:30
- Food preparation/set-up/break-down/cleaning: 09:30 - 14:00
- Multi-national/multi-lingual volunteers and patrons
- 150(+/-) patrons served vegetarian 3-course meals weekly
- Current COVID-19 measures restrict indoor service: full lunch bags given at door
- Typical lunch bag contents include:
- Hot vegetarian meal w/fresh toppings
- 2 cheese & cucumber sandwiches
- Hard-boiled egg
- Homemade baked dessert (cookie or muffin)
- Piece of fresh fruit
- Individually-packaged Belgian waffle
- Bottled water
- mint
- disposable cutlery
- wet and dry napkins/towelettes
- Outdoor coffee/tea/juice service 09:30 - 12:30:
- includes fresh soup service and choice of baguette (jam or chocolate spreads)
This decade-old project began with a basic coffee service for 10 patrons and has since grown to see 3 different locations (now at the Salvation Army), over 150 patrons, and complete 3-course meals (Autumn 2019 debuted Community Kitchen's donated hot vegetarian meals!)
