Our Brazilian chapter, Cada Lata Conta, partnered with the Wings for Life World Run in Brasilia, keeping over 2,000 aluminium cans in the loop.♻️

Coordinated by the Brazilian Aluminium Can Association, this activation supported the run’s mission to raise funds for spinal cord injury research, while proving that inspiring sustainable habits at public events works best when recycling is accessible and fun.

By engaging directly with athletes and spectators on the ground, the team turned environmental education into a high-energy experience, showcasing the infinite possibilities of aluminium and the importance of drink can recycling.

Making recycling easy is important. Making it engaging is what drives behaviour change.

♻️This World Environment Day, our Czech chapter, Každá plechovka se počítá, brought both together at Prague's Riegrovy Sady Park.

Together with Prague 2 Municipality and local beverage producer PRAGER'S, the team encouraged more people to recycle their drink cans through public dialogue, direct engagement and visible recycling infrastructure.

And while the heart-shaped collection point and ECC backpacks attracted attention, it was Canny, the ECC aluminium can mascot, making its debut in Czechia, that truly stole the show.

♻️ Meanwhile, the drink can: already preparing for another cycle.

🌍 This World Environment Day, we're celebrating the power of cycles.

The world works in cycles. So does aluminium.
Every can recycled can return as a new one in just 60 days, ready to be recycled again and again. A cycle that never ends.♾️

That's why at we're working across 20 countries to inspire people to recycle their drink cans wherever they are and help keep this truly circular material in the loop.

Consumers, businesses and organisations all have a role to play.
Together, we can help make our vision a reality: 100% drink can recycling worldwide.

♻️ Join the cycle.

Our UK chapter has kicked off festival season at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland.
Mascot Canzee and the Every Can Counts recycling ambassadors engaged with festival goers across the 3-day event, which attracted an estimated 100,000 attendees.

♻️ The ECC team ensured there were plenty of ways for attendees to recycle their empty cans, from the iconic backpacks to "I Heart Recycling" can cages and Every Can Counts' voting bins.

A reminder that every can really does count, as recycling aluminium uses 95% less energy than producing it from raw materials.

Helping people understand the circular value of aluminium drink cans, and how even one recycled can can make an impact, sits at the core of what we do at Every Can Counts.
At UNDERGRAD FEST beneath Maglič Fortress, our Serbian chapter, Svaka limenka se računa, brought this mission to life by encouraging festival-goers to recycle their empty cans. ♻️
The result?
More than 10,000 aluminium cans collected for recycling across 3 days.
Because when aluminium stays in the loop, recycling saves up to 95% of the energy required to produce it from raw materials.

🔵 These findings show that the success of a Deposit Return Scheme often comes down to something very simple: Is it easy enough to become part of people’s everyday routine?

Nearly 1 in 2 consumers say they would be encouraged by convenient return locations or by higher deposit values.
At the same time, 71% believe deposit values should vary based on container size. An interesting signal around how people perceive value, fairness and participation within circular systems. ♻️→ https://bit.ly/4fyRDsC

🔵 People don’t see recycling as someone else’s job.
But they also don’t believe it should be theirs alone.

Our latest survey shows consumers increasingly expect brands, industry and policymakers to step up and help make drink can recycling simpler, more effective and truly circular.
Because better systems designed for circularity make better behaviour easier.
