Helping people understand the circular value of aluminium drink cans, and how even one recycled can can make an impact, sits at the core of what we do at Every Can Counts.
At UNDERGRAD FEST beneath Maglič Fortress, our Serbian chapter, Svaka limenka se računa, brought this mission to life by encouraging festival-goers to recycle their empty cans. ♻️
The result?
More than 10,000 aluminium cans collected for recycling across 3 days.
Because when aluminium stays in the loop, recycling saves up to 95% of the energy required to produce it from raw materials.

🔵 These findings show that the success of a Deposit Return Scheme often comes down to something very simple: Is it easy enough to become part of people’s everyday routine?

Nearly 1 in 2 consumers say they would be encouraged by convenient return locations or by higher deposit values.
At the same time, 71% believe deposit values should vary based on container size. An interesting signal around how people perceive value, fairness and participation within circular systems. ♻️→ https://bit.ly/4fyRDsC

🔵 People don’t see recycling as someone else’s job.
But they also don’t believe it should be theirs alone.

Our latest survey shows consumers increasingly expect brands, industry and policymakers to step up and help make drink can recycling simpler, more effective and truly circular.
Because better systems designed for circularity make better behaviour easier.

Our UK chapter celebrated Earth Day by bringing can recycling to life in Bristol.♻️

🎨The CANvas, made from over 700 recycled drink cans, was painted by local street artist Ollie Gillard to act as a reminder that every can really does count - not just on Earth Day, but every day.

ECC ambassadors wearing recycling backpacks were also there to collect empty cans from people on-the-go and raise awareness of the infinite recyclability of aluminium.
By making recycling visible and engaging, we encourage more people to recycle their cans, supporting our vision of 100% drink can recycling.

Today is — a reminder that as the Earth spins, it’s in our hands to keep the cycle going. 🌍
And this loop never ends.
One simple move ♻️ and the can stays in circularity — forever.

At Every Can Counts, we are raising awareness over the infinite possibilities of aluminium across 21 countries worldwide and the powerful impact of small actions.
♻️ Because every can recycled saves energy, preserves resources and keeps valuable materials in the loop.

The 1st London Colney Scouts, a local recycling initiative in North London, has been recognised with a national Green Can Award by our UK chapter after recycling 76,000 aluminium cans in just one year ♻️

Beyond the numbers, the group has raised awareness across their local community, inspiring residents and businesses to get involved and make can recycling part of everyday life — proving that small actions can make a big difference.
