Найголовніше, завдяки нашим мобільним командам, ми хочемо забезпечити всіх біженців, які цього потребують, особливо найбільш вразливих, нашою постійною присутністю під час їхньої взаємодії з усіма бельгійськими адміністраціями аж до отримання ними пільг та прав.

ряму співпрацю з органами влади ми хочемо об'єднати біженців з України навколо проекту інтеграції бельгійського уряду. Наші громадські консультації та процес участі є унікальною можливістю для нас стати рушієм нашої власної інтеграції.

Поки ми пристосовуємося до нових реалій у Бельгії та в Україні, наш Громадський центр та його широкий спектр діяльності забезпечить громаду надійним місцем для перегрупування та планування перебудови нашого життя. Ми знову будемо процвітати, продуктивно інтегруючись у бельгійську громаду.

Is to serve all the refugees from Ukraine living in Belgium with the provision of information and by
facilitating the access to rights and benefits. Most importantly thanks to our mobile teams, we wish to provide all refugees in need - particularly the most vulnerable - with our constant presence during their interactions with all Belgian administrations until the enjoyment of their benefits and rights. Through direct collaboration with authorities, we wish to unite the refugee from Ukraine behind the Belgium government integration project. Our community consultations & participation process are a unique opportunity for us to become the engine of our own integration. While we adjust to our new realities in Belgium and in Ukraine, our Community Center and its vast range of activities will provide the community with a trusted place to regroup and plan the rebuilding of our lives. As citizens, we want to build a strong partnership with the Belgian authorities and the Belgian population until we return to our Motherland of Ukraine.

UA⬇️ Uncertainty regarding temporary protection is a reality for millions of Ukrainians living in Europe, including in Belgium – among the people we work with.

Looking ahead to 2027, the absence of a clear post–temporary protection framework is already affecting very concrete aspects of life: the ability to plan for the future, access to employment, integration, and stable work opportunities.

From our daily experience, we see that employers are often reluctant to invest in workers without clarity about their long-term legal status. As a result, many people are effectively left in a state of “temporary living”.

On June 2, representatives of UVRC took part in a conference at the European Parliament, organized with the support of Member of the European Parliament Paulo Do Nascimento Cabral, titled “Temporary Protection, Permanent Impact: Ukrainian Women in Europe”. The event brought together policymakers, experts, and representatives of civil society organizations.

The discussion focused not only on the present situation, but also on what comes next: whether transitional solutions will emerge within the EU between temporary protection and long-term residence status, and how to ensure proper integration for people who have already become part of European societies in practice.

Another key topic was the labour market: the non-recognition of qualifications, limited access to skilled employment, and systemic barriers that keep people working below their professional level. This represents a loss of potential both for individuals and for the economies of host countries.

At the same time, it was important to recognize another dimension: the role Ukrainian women are playing today in shaping a new social fabric across EU countries – working, building initiatives, supporting families, adapting, and contributing to the communities around them.

For us, this discussion was about better understanding the processes shaping the future of Ukrainians in Europe, and about exchanging experience on support and integration efforts.

Невизначеність щодо тимчасового захисту – це реальність мільйонів українців, які живуть у Європі. Зокрема й у Бельгії – для людей, з якими ми працюємо.

Попереду – 2027 рік. І вже зараз відсутність чіткого сценарію після завершення тимчасового захисту впливає на дуже конкретні речі: можливість планувати життя, працевлаштування, інтеграцію та доступ до стабільної роботи.

З щоденних кейсів ми бачимо, що роботодавці не готові інвестувати в працівників без розуміння їхнього подальшого правового статусу. У результаті багато людей фактично залишаються в режимі «тимчасового життя».

2 червня представники UVRC були в Європейському парламенті на конференції «Temporary Protection, Permanent Impact: Ukrainian Women in Europe», організованій за підтримки депутата Європейського парламенту Paulo Do Nascimento Cabral. Вона об’єднала політиків, експертів і представників громадських організацій.

Це була розмова не лише про сьогодення, а й про те, що буде далі: чи з’являться в ЄС перехідні рішення між тимчасовим захистом і довгостроковими статусами, як забезпечити інтеграцію людей, які вже фактично стали частиною європейських суспільств.

Окремо звучала тема ринку праці: невизнання дипломів, обмежений доступ до кваліфікованої роботи та системні бар’єри, які утримують людей нижче їхнього професійного рівня. Це – втрачений потенціал і для людей, і для економік країн, які їх прийняли.

Водночас було важливо бачити й інший бік: як українські жінки сьогодні формують нову соціальну тканину в країнах ЄС – працюють, створюють ініціативи, підтримують родини, адаптуються і змінюють середовище навколо себе.

Для нас ця розмова була про краще розуміння процесів, які зараз формують майбутнє українців у Європі, і про обмін досвідом щодо підтримки та інтеграції.

UA⬇️Belgians who have supported Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale invasion have now officially come together as the UVRC Council of Ambassadors

On May 22 in Brussels, we established the UVRC Council of Ambassadors and signed a memorandum of cooperation with its first members.

Fifteen Belgians from various fields have joined the Council – people united by their support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian community in Belgium.

Since 2022, our ambassadors have been helping Ukraine on many levels: organizing humanitarian aid, supporting Ukrainian refugees, raising funds for military and medical needs, speaking about Ukraine in Belgian society, and building connections between our two countries.

“Ukrainians today are defending not only their own country but all of Europe. The least we can do is help,” shared Bertrand Waucquez, mayor of Kraainem and one of our ambassadors.

For us, the Council of Ambassadors is about partnership, shared values, and an even deeper integration of the Ukrainian community into Belgian society.

Бельгійці, які допомагали Україні з перших днів повномасштабної війни, тепер офіційно об’єдналися в Раду Амбасадорів UVRC

22 травня в Брюсселі ми створили Раду Амбасадорів UVRC та підписали меморандум про співпрацю з першими її учасниками.

До Ради долучилися 15 бельгійців із різних сфер – це люди, яких об’єднує підтримка України та української громади в Бельгії.

Наші амбасадори з 2022 року допомагають Україні на різних рівнях: організовують гуманітарну допомогу, підтримують українських біженців, збирають кошти для військових і медичних потреб, говорять про Україну в бельгійському суспільстві та будують зв’язки між нашими країнами.

«Українці сьогодні захищають не лише свою країну, а й усю Європу. Найменше, що ми можемо зробити – це допомагати»,– поділився Bertrand Waucquez, мер міста Крайнем і один із наших амбасадорів.

Для нас Рада Амбасадорів – це про партнерство, спільні цінності та ще глибшу інтеграцію української громади в бельгійське суспільство.

On May 11–12, the UVRC team took part in the International Women’s Leadership Forum & Awards: Power. Voice. Legacy in Brussels – a forum that brought together Ukrainian women leaders and representatives of civil society, business, education, diplomacy, and culture from across Europe. In total, more than 170 participants joined the event.

The discussions focused on the role of Ukraine and Ukrainians in Europe: from civil society and human rights to security, integration, and cultural diplomacy.

For the UVRC team, this was an opportunity to present our practical experience in Belgium and demonstrate how Ukrainian organizations are already contributing to European communities and building new partnerships.

As part of the forum:
– Mykhailo Dzivitskyi, President of UVRC, spoke on a panel dedicated to the Ukraine–Europe strategic dialogue and the role of civil society in shaping common solutions;

– Inna Leonova, UVRC Operations Director, joined a discussion on social impact, partnerships, and the transformations Ukrainian organizations are creating across Europe today;

– Марина Хрипкова, Head of Social and Mental Support at UVRC, spoke about the rights of Ukrainians, access to support services, and the challenges faced by people under temporary protection.

One important idea resonated throughout the forum: the Ukrainian presence in Europe has long gone beyond being a temporary phenomenon caused by Russia’s war. Today, Ukrainians are an active part of European society – creating businesses, developing communities, and supporting social initiatives.

We thank the European Association of Ukrainian Women (EAUW), the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub, and the forum partners for the invitation and for creating space for an honest, professional, and much-needed conversation.

11–12 травня команда UVRC взяла участь у International Women’s Leadership Forum & Awards: Power. Voice. Legacy у Брюсселі – форумі, який зібрав українських лідерок, представниць громадського сектору, бізнесу, освіти, дипломатії та культури з різних куточків Європи. Загалом – понад 170 учасниць.

Говорили про роль України та українців у Європі: від громадянського суспільства й прав людини – до безпеки, інтеграції та культурної дипломатії.

Для команди UVRC це була можливість представити наш практичний досвід роботи в Бельгії та на його прикладі показати, як українські організації вже сьогодні впливають на європейські спільноти й формують нові партнерства.

У межах форуму:
– Михайло Дзівіцький, президент UVRC, виступив на панелі про стратегічний діалог Україна–Європа та роль громадянського сектору у формуванні спільних рішень;

– Інна Леонова, операційна директорка UVRC, долучилася до дискусії про соціальний вплив, партнерства та трансформації, які сьогодні створюють українські організації в Європі;

– Марина Шамшина, керівниця напрямку соціального та ментального супроводу UVRC, говорила про права українців, доступ до підтримки та виклики, з якими стикаються люди під тимчасовим захистом.

Окремо звучала важлива думка: українська присутність у Європі давно вийшла за межі тимчасового явища, спричиненого російською війною. Сьогодні це активна частина європейського суспільства, яка створює бізнеси, розвиває громади та підтримує соціальні ініціативи.

We are grateful to the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium for the invitation to meet with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa and Ambassador of Ukraine Yaroslav Melnyk.

For the UVRC team, it was important to be part of this dialogue, because meetings like these create an opportunity to speak honestly about the real challenges, support, and needs of our communities.

There were many important topics raised: education, support for Ukrainian schools and community initiatives, cooperation between organizations, and spaces that can bring people together.

What was especially valuable was the openness to conversation and the willingness to listen. The room brought together people from different cities across Belgium, representing various organizations and areas of work, yet everyone was united by one shared goal — to support people and remain a strong voice for Ukraine here in Belgium.

Thank you for creating this space for a meaningful and genuine dialogue, and for the especially warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Особливо цінно було відчути відкритість до розмови й готовність слухати. У залі були люди з різних міст Бельгії, різних організацій і напрямів роботи, але всіх об’єднувало одне — бажання підтримувати людей і залишатися сильним голосом України тут, у Бельгії.

Дякуємо за цей простір для живого й потрібного діалогу й за особливо теплу відкриту атмосферу.

Housing remains one of the most pressing and complex challenges for refugees in Belgium once they leave reception centres.

Today in Brussels, a high-level meeting brought together Bruxelles Logement, Fedasil, Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen, and the Umbrella Refugee Committee to discuss a new housing model and its practical implementation.

We were glad to contribute to this discussion, as our work is closely linked to the direct support of refugees. This daily immersion in reality helps us better understand what hinders access to housing, where information gaps persist, and how challenging the period after receiving protection can be for each individual.

Our colleagues from the “Captation” project at UVRC, Aurélie Choiral and Christian Kabeya, shared their hands-on experience from the field. This helped further connect the discussion to people’s lived realities.

This meeting once again highlighted a key message: effective housing solutions only work when they are developed with communities, not merely for them.

We are proud to be part of this multi-stakeholder partnership and remain deeply committed to working towards more fair, accessible, and realistic housing pathways for refugees in Belgium.

Житло залишається одним із найгостріших і найскладніших викликів для біженців у Бельгії, щойно вони виходять за поріг центру тимчасового розміщення.

Сьогодні в Брюсселі відбулася важлива зустріч високого рівня, яка об’єднала Bruxelles Logement / Brussels Housing, Fedasil, Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen та Комітети біженців Umbrella для обговорення нової житлової моделі та її впровадження на практиці.

Ми були раді долучитися до цієї дискусії, адже наша робота пов’язана з безпосередньою підтримкою біженців. Це щоденне занурення в реальність дозволяє зрозуміти, що заважає доступу до житла, якої інформації бракує та наскільки складним для кожного біженця є період після отримання захисту.

Своїм практичним досвідом поділилися наші колеги з проєкту «Сaptation» від UVRC Орелі Шоіраль і Крістіан Кабеа. Це допомогло краще пов’язати обговорення з реальним досвідом людей.

Ця зустріч вкотре показала: ефективні житлові рішення працюють тільки тоді, коли вони створюються разом із громадами, а не лише «для них».

Ми пишаємося тим, що є частиною цього багатостороннього партнерства, і залишаємося глибоко відданими роботі над тим, щоб доступ до житла для біженців у Бельгії був більш справедливим і реалістичним.

From rehearsals at UVRC to victory in Paris: the story of Koloryt’s little stars 🌟

Three years ago, these children took their very first dance steps within the walls of UVRC. The “Koloryt” dance group grew and moved together with our community centre, but one thing always remained the same – the opportunity to train, learn new skills, and grow together.

And today, those efforts have led to remarkable achievements. At Asterix Fest in Paris – a festival that brought together Ukrainian dance groups from across Europe – “Koloryt” won second place in the folk category and third place in the contemporary category. Two members of the group also received individual awards and trophies for their solo performances.

“It was such a strong competition! There were professional groups that had been working for many years. We started with our dance ‘Cherevychky.’ The audience welcomed them so warmly, and the children danced beautifully,” says Iryna Rohova-Hordynska, the group’s leader.

We are incredibly proud of every child and their mentor. Stories like these are exactly why places like UVRC matter – spaces that become a second home for children ✨

Від репетицій у UVRC – до перемоги в Парижі: історія маленьких зірок «Колориту»🌟

Три роки тому ці діти зробили свої перші танцювальні кроки в стінах UVRC. Колектив «Колорит» ріс і переїжджав разом із нашим ком’юніті-центром, але незмінним залишалося головне – можливість тренуватися, опановувати нове й спілкуватися.

І от сьогодні – великі результати. На фестивалі українських танцювальних колективів Asterix Fest у Парижі, який зібрав учасників з усієї Європи, «Колорит» здобув друге місце у народному напрямку та третє місце у сучасному. Дві учасниці колективу також отримали окремі нагороди та кубки за сольні виступи.

"Це був такий сильний конкурс! Там були колективи, які вже працюють дуже давно, професійні. Починали з нашого танцю "Черевички". Приймали їх дуже гарно, танцювали вони добре", – ділиться Ірина Рогова-Гординська, керівниця колективу.

Ми безмежно пишаємося кожною дитиною та їхньою наставницею. Саме заради таких історій існують простори, як UVRC, які стають для дітей другим домом ✨

In an open and collaborative atmosphere, truly meaningful initiatives are born. This is exactly how the work on a new joint project with CAW Brussels began.

For over a year and a half, Ukrainian Voices RC has been collaborating with this organization. At our community center, consultations on a wide range of topics were regularly held by CAW specialists.

Even after the temporary loss of our space, we continue to look for opportunities to maintain and develop this collaboration.

Ahead lies the preparation of an important and timely for our community project focused on supporting mental health and coping with stress.

У невимушеній та відкритій атмосфері народжуються справді важливі ініціативи. Саме так розпочалася робота над новим спільним проєктом разом із CAW Brussels.

Уже понад півтора року Ukrainian Voices RC співпрацює з цією організацією. У стінах нашого ком’юніті-центру регулярно відбувалися консультації з найрізноманітніших питань, які проводили фахівці CAW.

Навіть після тимчасової втрати нашого простору ми продовжуємо шукати можливості для підтримки та розвитку цієї співпраці.

Попереду підготовка важливого та актуального для нашої спільноти проєкту, спрямованого на підтримку ментального здоров’я.

Friends, we have some great news – starting today, our organization Ukrainian Voices RC is shortening its name to UVRC and introducing a new logo. Look out for this blue-and-yellow symbol. Inspired by Brussels’ Atomium, it represents a strong connection and a sense of community that has been growing for four years.

While our visual style has changed, our mission remains the same – we support people who have been forced to leave their homes, helping them find housing, jobs, and integrate into life in Belgium.

Stay with us and keep following us on social media. We’ll be sharing updates through new projects and our daily work alongside those who need support.
