Heatwave and water games: this was our end-of-year party.

Amid the first summer heatwave in Brussels in late June, CBS Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and our friends from the Brussels Explorers held their end-of-year party at the scout hut, trading in the planned BBQ for finger food and watermelon to beat the heat. Water games and getting completely soaked definitely helped them to keep cool!

We also took the opportunity to present the Chief Scout’s Gold Award to three of our Scouts who will be moving up to Explorers in September. Hats off to them for all the hard work they’ve put in over the last four years—especially this past year—to achieve this. You should be really proud of yourselves! We definitely are!

CBS Scouts and Brussels Explorers go camping in the beautiful Peak District in the United Kingdom

This July, our Scouts and their friends from the Brussels Explorers took part in a summer camp at the Linnet Clough Scout Centre in the Peak District, England.

The week-long camp featured a ton of exciting activities including climbing, tomahawk throwing, target shooting, kayaking and three hikes to take in the sights in and around Marple and views from atop Lantern Pike and Kinder Scout! It was great fun!

As true Scouts who enjoy the outdoors and strive to leave every place just a little tidier than we found it, our Beavers met in the beautiful Woluwe Park for a nature walk and litter pickup.

Instead of gathering at our usual headquarters in Parc Parmentier, the group met just across Avenue de Tervueren to both enjoy and care for the environment. While exploring the park, the Beavers collected litter and learned how to sort waste properly—they even had the chance to meet a professional Bruxelles Propreté crew!

On the second weekend of May, our Cubs and Scouts went to this year's District Camp in the picturesque Brextal area near Koblenz, Germany.

The bus ride was long, but the activities, competitions and experiences focused on camping and backwoods skills were priceless! Check out how we did!

Fun and Fundraising

On 1 February, the CBS popped in at our good friends the English Comedy Club in Brussels to raise funds for our scouting activities and experience their annual pantomime Puss in Boots.

We are grateful to everyone at the talented ECC Brussels for inviting us and giving our Scouts the chance to raise funds for their activities and camps by selling programmes and delicious homemade cakes and biscuits.

It wasn’t all work though. All 45 of our group, including Scouts and their families, also thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday afternoon show, which featured several familiar faces from the scouting family.
