After an extraordinary tenure at the European Film Agency Directors Association (EFAD), Julie-Jeanne Rรฉgnault will step down as Secretary General in March 2025.
During her time leading EFAD, the organization experienced remarkable growth and transformation, solidifying its position as a leading voice in the European audiovisual sector.
EFAD expanded from 16 to 38 members and has been instrumental in navigating critical European Union policy discussions, including on the Audiovisual Media Services (AVMS) Directive, State aid, Creative Europe โ MEDIA, SatCab, EMFA, and geoblocking.
The association has also been actively involved in significant legal cases, ranging from the cross-border access to pay-TV dispute to recent complaints filed by major online platforms against the Belgian government. Last but not least, it has initiated amazing cooperation and solidarity projects such as DALE!, ESFUF and NEW DAWN.
Chris Marcich, EFAD President: โJulie-Jeanne has contributed immensely to achieving our objectives. She has really put EFAD on the map as a leading advocate for our sector. She has carried out her responsibilities and supported the members with commitment, energy and passion. I express my gratitude to her for all that she has done over the yearsโ.
Kjersti Mo, EFAD Vice President: "Julie-Jeanne has constantly fostered a robust and fruitful climate for exchange of knowledge and best practices between the very different members of EFAD, from the small countries to bigger ones, inside or outside the EU. Covering AI, gender and diversity issues, sustainability, coproductions and more. Thanks to her weโve built stronger ties within the association as well as an impressive network of partners at European and International level. We are forever grateful for her achievements on behalf of EFAD".
Julie-Jeanne commented: "It has been an honour and a privilege to lead EFAD during such a dynamic and transformative period. Together with our members and partners, we have achieved significant milestones. I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to this incredible journey."
โจThank you so much, Julie-Jeanne! Wishing you all the success in your future endeavours!
๐ EFAD will announce plans to recruit a new General Secretary in the coming weeks to ensure a seamless leadership transition.
