We leven en overleven zoals in de oorlogsjaren 1939-1945.

Camp Lophem, you were fantastic 🌞

Hot weather, good vibes, and an amazing mix of Canadians, US paratroopers, Brigade Piron, 5th SAS and Royal Marines.
Training in patrols and catching up with friends —

We managed to build up a nice squad, tried our hawkins mine on some kind of german tracked thing. Catched a ride with a chap from the RAC, because you know walking is for the poor infantry chaps 😋

And remember! A Marine never leaves his post, not even to eat, just check it out! 🥪

We shared our common interests once more on sunny evenings and ate a lot of dust!

Great to look back to this weekend! 🫡

In the heat, with sweat and teamwork, we’re building a slice of history. Tomorrow & Sunday we open our camp to visitors — ready to share the stories, gear, and daily life of the British soldier in WW2.

“Captured but unbroken.”

During the harsh years of WWII, German High Command issued the infamous Kommandobefehl (Commando Order) of 18 October 1942. This order dictated that any captured Commandos or SAS troops were to be executed immediately, regardless of whether they were in uniform or had surrendered.

Our portrayal captures the tense moments of capture—knowing full well what this order meant for Allied special forces. Yet, despite the danger, Royal Marines and Commandos carried on their missions with unwavering courage.

We honor their bravery and sacrifice.

🤔 Oy mate, what’s that funny flag doing in your camp ?!?

“The Gin Pennant is flying!” 🍸⚓️

A tradition within the Royal Navy, the green and white Gin Pennant signals an open invitation for officers of nearby ships to come aboard for a drink. It was often hoisted when there was good news, a celebration, or simply the opportunity for camaraderie at sea.

Our group keeps this historic naval custom alive as part of portraying the Royal Marines of 30 Assault Unit during WWII. Just as it once brought sailors together, we hope it brings a smile to those who know its meaning!
