DMW Gallery

DMW is a contemporary art gallery and project space in Antwerp. DMW is a gallery and project space in Antwerp.

We focus on the role of the artistic dialogue in the exhibition process and organise monthly duo exhibitions, showing the works of an artist invited by DMW Gallery alongside the works of another artist that has been selected by the invited artist. The process behind the duo exhibitions is closely documented on the website of the project space. The collaboration results in limited editions created

by the artists that are sold on the occasion of the finissage of the duo show. DMW Gallery represents Joris Vanpoucke, Marius Ritiu, Dries Segers, Emilie Terlinden, Fia Cielen, Ignace Cami, Kaspar Dejong and Caroline Van den Eynden.

OPENING THIS SATURDAY — BRAM DE JONGHE

This Saturday, we are delighted to open a new exhibition by Bram De Jonghe; So far so good

Bram De Jonghe (b. 1985, Ostend) is a Belgian artist based in The Hague. Working primarily with sculpture and spatial interventions, he creates unexpected encounters between objects, materials and the spaces around them.

His work often plays with the boundary between art and reality — combining the familiar with the strange, the practical with the poetic, and the rational with the absurd. Rather than offering straightforward answers, his sculptures invite us to look differently, question our assumptions and trust our own imagination.

Come and discover the exhibition, meet others, and celebrate the opening with us this Saturday.

Upcoming Solo show: Bram De Jonghe — So far so good

We’re very happy to invite you to the opening of Bram De Jonghe’s new exhibition So far so good at DMW Gallery.

Sculpture, material and space come together in an open and playful way. Starting from the architecture of the gallery, De Jonghe explores how works can inhabit, interrupt and transform the space around them.

Moving between materials, ideas and forms, the exhibition leaves room for chance, doubt, humour and unexpected connections. Some works feel familiar, others slightly elusive — inviting you to look again, and perhaps see something different the second time.

So far so good is an exhibition that unfolds slowly, through the materials, the space and the relationships between the works.

Joost Pauwaert presents Anvil with Sword as his contribution to Blade, an exposition at DMW Gallery.

Pauwaert’s practice explores the relationship between power, beauty and poetry through a visual language that balances monumentality with humour. Drawing on familiar symbols and everyday objects, he creates works that invite viewers to reconsider established narratives with a sense of playful curiosity.

For Blade, Pauwaert reimagines one of the best-known myths surrounding the sword by replacing the stone with a cast-iron anvil and the legendary blade with a simple wooden sword. This subtle inversion transforms a symbol of heroic destiny into an object that is at once playful and quietly subversive, shifting the focus from strength and conquest to imagination and possibility.

Balancing the monumental with the caricatural, Anvil with Sword exemplifies Pauwaert’s ability to infuse iconic imagery with wit, creating a work that is both familiar and unexpectedly open to new interpretations.

His work was alongside that of 44 other artists, on view at DMW Gallery.

Join us for an artist talk with Elen Braga and William Ludwig Lutgens during the closing of Siamese Others.

On Saturday, 20 June at 15:00, both artists will be in conversation at DMW Gallery, moderated by Ida Wollens, Director of the gallery.

Together, they will speak about the ideas and processes behind the exhibition: bodies and doubles, shared myths, divided selves, and works that move between metal, textile, sculpture, and performance.

The talk will be followed by drinks to mark the closing of the exhibition.

We are pleased to share that Ignace Cami, represented by DMW Gallery, is participating in Muddy Beauties, The State of Matter, a group exhibition on ceramics presented by Sint Lucas Antwerpen during Antwerp Art Weekend.

The exhibition brings together work by current students, alumni, and teachers, focusing on ceramics as a medium shaped by transformation, uncertainty, and material intelligence. In ceramics, even the smallest shift — a difference in temperature, a change in glaze, an air bubble or a speck of dust — can alter the final work. Clay contracts, glaze melts, forms crack, colours shift: the process asks the maker to negotiate control and chance.

Joeri Woudstra explores how technological acceleration reshapes our experience of time, evoking a sense of generational melancholy and longing.

For Silent Structures, he presents works in reclaimed wood from a 1700s building in The Hague, alongside a video capturing a New Year’s bonfire in suspended slow motion — between destruction and renewal.
