Global citizenship, training and exchange of students & researchers | Global partnerships USOS onderhoudt langdurige relaties met universiteiten in het Zuiden.

Uit de samenwerkingen volgen uitwisselingen van studenten en personeel en gezamenlijke onderzoeksprojecten. Tijdens het academiejaar kunnen studenten van UAntwerpen beroep doen op vormingen, zoals de jaarlijkse exposurereizen, thesisstages, debatten en seminaries. Deze vormingen zijn zoveel mogelijk geënt op de samenwerkingen met het Zuiden. USOS werkt momenteel samen met:

Woensdag vertonen we samen met 11.11.11 de film Wecco Wacko Farm Club in De Cinema.

De film neemt je mee naar Senegal en laat je kennis maken met vrouwen die coöperaties oprichten en jongeren die bomen planten in de mangroves en innovatieve irrigatiesystemen ontwikkelen.

🥂 Celebrating 40 years of engagement.

Last month, we had the honour of celebrating our fortieth anniversary together with former participants, sympathisers and international partners.

Many reconnected with the values we stand for: trust, dialogue and caring for our common home.

While looking back, we also moved forward. Together with our partners, we made plans for closer cooperation in the future.

We are very much looking forward to what 2026 and the future hold for us.

For now, we wish you a joyful end of the year!

🚨 Our final Debating Development session of the year is titled "From Global Anticolonial Struggles to Student Encampments Today"

🎓 Around the world, campuses have become contested spaces where student dissent is increasingly met with surveillance, repression and claims of “neutrality”. This closing session explores how today’s student protests connect to broader struggles against imperialism, racial capitalism and authoritarianism.

✨ This Saturday, during the 40th anniversary of USOS, we will present the Koen De Feyter Solidarity Fund.

In times of conflict, this fund supports students at our partner universities in Palestine 🇵🇸 and DR Congo 🇨🇩, helping them continue their studies despite war, insecurity, or financial hardship.

Named in honour of Professor Koen De Feyter (1960–2024), the fund carries forward his lifelong commitment to justice and global academic solidarity.

🤝 Together, we strengthen access to education.

🧱 Prisons, detention centres and asylums are inherently authoritarian spaces. In many countries across the Global South, these sites carry colonial legacies and continue to serve as tools of coercion, repression and political control.
