Report on the Participation of the Riffian Council for Human Rights in the “Relais pour la Vie 2026” Event in Luxembourg

Luxembourg hosted the “Relais pour la Vie” event on March 21–22, 2026, an international solidarity initiative aimed at supporting cancer patients. The event brought together a wide range of community activists and representatives from civil society.

In this context, the participation of the RCHR reaffirms its commitment to defending the fundamental human rights to health and life. It also served as an opportunity to highlight the suffering of cancer patients in the Riff region, particularly in light of the near absence of healthcare infrastructure, the difficulty of accessing diagnosis and treatment, and the lack of specialized medical centers.

This participation provided a platform to call for strengthened international solidarity and the reduction of health disparities, emphasizing that the right to treatment is a fundamental right that should not be affected by geographic location or any form of racial or historical discrimination.

The event was also attended by prominent figures from civil society, the health sector, and government institutions, in a deeply human and supportive atmosphere.

On the tenth anniversary of the Brussels terrorist attacks, we solemnly remember the innocent victims with deep sorrow and respect, and we renew our solidarity with their families and all those affected.

This anniversary reminds us of the importance of upholding shared values, rejecting violence and extremism, and working together towards a society built on peace and coexistence.

Summary on the January 19th, seminar:
The Riffian Council for Human Rights, in coordination with the National Assembly of Riff (N.A.R.), organized a human rights seminar on January 19, marking the 42nd anniversary of the 1984 crimes in the Riff. The seminar titled: “The 1984 Crimes in the Riff: Collective Memory and Human Rights.”

The seminar addressed a number of key issues related to the 1984 uprising, foremost among them the state’s response, which took on a war-like character against the Riffian people, including both protesters and non-protesters alike. This response was manifested in the use of heavy military equipment, such as tanks and gunfire from aircraft, as well as the use of live ammunition. It was accompanied by grave human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, torture, extrajudicial killings, and the collective burial of victims while still alive, in addition to the deliberate concealment and erasure of the truth.

The seminar witnessed wide and respectful engagement through social media platforms, along with notable participation by several Riff activists, reflecting the continued presence of the 1984 uprising in the collective memory of the Riff and its ongoing relevance within human rights discourse.

In its closing statement, the Riffian Council for Human Rights expressed its appreciation for the support it receives from the Riffians, considering this support a sincere expression of mutual trust and a sign of continued popular solidarity around issues of memory, justice, and human rights in the Riff.
