Expo platform organized by: Tamara Beheydt, Stefan Siffer, Christophe Floré and David Van Mieghem

Since 2006 SECONDroom organises one-day exhibitions as an independent platform. The initiative of Christophe Floré started in his private house in Brussels. A room on the first floor was transformed into an exhibition space where a different artist was given carte blanche to show work during a public exhibition every Saturday between 18h and 21h. This constant renewal of exhibitions gave SECONDroom an intimate character. Because the duration of the exhibition is limited to a short-lived vernissage, it has the character of an event. Since its creation, SECONDroom has organised more than 300 exhibitions using this weekly formula. SECONDroom is currently located in Antwerp (Berchem). The current staff members are: Christophe Floré, Tanja Vrancken, David Van Mieghem, Athéna Lazarou and Marc Van Tichel. Sinds 2006 organiseert SECONDroom eendags-tentoonstellingen als onafhankelijk platform. Een initiatief van Christophe Floré dat begon in zijn privé-woning in Brussel. Op de eerste verdieping werd een kamer getransformeerd tot tentoonstellingsruimte waar elke zaterdag tussen 18u en 21u een andere kunstenaar carte blanche kreeg om te experimenteren. Deze voortdurende hernieuwing van tentoonstellingen verleende SECONDroom een particulier karakter. Omdat de duur van de expositie beperkt is tot een vernissage krijgt ze de impact van een evenement. Sinds zijn ontstaan heeft SECONDroom met deze wekelijkse formule meer dan 300 tentoonstellingen georganiseerd. Momenteel is SECONDroom gevestigd in Antwerpen (Berchem). De huidige medewerkers zijn: Christophe Floré, Tanja Vrancken, David Van Mieghem, Athéna Lazarou en Marc Van Tichel.

The exchange builds on a shared European context in which artists and arts organisations operate today. While the realities of Southeast and Western Europe are different, both regions face changing political and social circumstances. At the same time, they share artistic interests, practices and working contexts that create opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
During the shadow stage, SECONDroom will gain insight into U10’s daily operations, the local arts scene and the wider ecosystem in which the organisation operates. The knowledge, experiences and connections gained during the exchange will be shared with Kunstenpunt and the wider Flemish arts community.
An opportunity to learn from each other, strengthen connections and build lasting international relationships.

Tijdens de LAAT TALKS staan beloftevolle kunstenaars centraal. In een intieme setting gaan ze in gesprek over hun praktijk, drijfveren en de rol van kunst vandaag. Hoe verhouden zij zich tot de traditie? Welke sporen laten Oude en Moderne Meesters na in hun werk? En hoe vertalen ze die erfenis naar een hedendaagse beeldtaal? LAAT TALKS creëert ruimte voor uitwisseling en verdieping. Geen afstandelijke lezingen, maar levende gesprekken waarin ideeën schuren, perspectieven verschuiven en nieuwe inzichten ontstaan. Hier ontmoet je kunstenaars op een kantelpunt in hun carrière: gedreven, onderzoekend en in dialoog met een rijk verleden.  Met deze reeks biedt KMSKA een podium aan een nieuwe generatie kunstenaars en versterkt het de band met het hedendaagse kunstenveld. LAAT TALKS verbindt tussen tijden, tussen praktijken, tussen mensen.
Tijdens deze editie gaat programmator Siska Baeck in gesprek met Irma Janssens en Tamara Beheydt, naar aanleiding van de tentoonstelling op 14.11.26 bij SECONDroom.

Irma Maria Marcel Janssens (°1996) is een multidisciplinaire kunstenares uit Antwerpen. Ze studeerde in 2020 af met een master Grafisch Ontwerp aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten Antwerpen. Het werk van Janssens wordt gevoed door het leven zelf. Er bestaat geen duidelijke scheiding tussen haar artistieke praktijk en haar dagelijkse leven: midden in de continue stroom van professionele en sociale activiteiten ontstaat haar werk. Het proces primeert en haar werken zijn vaak efemeer en fragiel. Vanuit haar positie als vrouw onderzoekt Janssens thema’s als lichamelijkheid, zichtbaarheid, vergankelijkheid, seks- en sensualiteit, en hoe deze haar identiteit en verhouding tot de wereld mee vormgeven. Haar praktijk beweegt zich op de grens tussen privé en publiek, binnen/buiten, en ontwikkelt zich de laatste jaren steeds nadrukkelijker richting installatie, sculptuur en performance.

Last Saturday, the artist talk at U10 offered a fascinating insight into the artist’s early work. The conversation also explored international and local art scenes, art education, and how to develop an artistic practice.

The Tangenta exhibition opened yesterday at U10 in Belgrade! A few photos to share the atmosphere of the evening. The exhibition, featuring works by artists from Germany, Belarus, Serbia, and Ukraine, who participated in the Tangente art camps in Gartow, Germany.

Nina Zeljković, Christophe de Rohan Chabot

The exhibition brings together the works of Nina Zeljković and Christophe de Rohan Chabot, who both deal with surface as concept. De Rohan Chabot explores how the materiality of commercial objects and displays communicates with its audience, whereas Nina Zeljković approaches traditional materials, such as wood and canvas, and their dimensionality through painting.

AkNC is a merger established by the Belgrade-based art spaces Autokomanda (kunstverein) and Non Canonico (commercial art space). Building on the experience, networks and exhibition histories of the two spaces, AkNC develops a shared structure for artist representation, exhibitions, art-fair participation and international collaboration.
