EUSEM was honoured to be invited to the World Health Organization (WHO) for a high-level brainstorming meeting, with a number of medical societies. EUSEM President, Dr Robert Leach represented the emergency medicine community.

This meeting marked an important step in shaping the WHO/Europe Medical Specialty Associations Engagement Initiative—bringing together leading medical organisations to collaborate on 5 Priority Areas for the Future:

💪 Health workforce transformation

🍏 Prevention and health promotion (including social & environmental determinants)

🤖 Digital health and artificial intelligence

🏥 Resilient health systems and integrated care

🌱 Climate change and environmental health

We look forward to working closely with WHO/Europe and fellow medical leaders to help drive meaningful, lasting improvements in patient care and public health.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Emergency Medicine Day 2026 and helped make it a truly global campaign, highlighting the importance of safety for EM Teams and stopping violence everywhere.

We also wanted to highlight the release of the updated violence mitigation position statement from the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP), reinforcing the urgent need for safer workplaces across emergency medicine.
