How can European youth policies reach young people in detention?
Young people in detention are often excluded from the opportunities that European youth policies seek to create. Ensuring their access to education, participation and personal development is essential to building more inclusive societies.
On 12 November 2026, we invite you to join us in Antwerp (Belgium) for YOUTH AND PRISON, an event organised by AVANZO and AIFED, in collaboration with EPEA and KLASBAK, as part of the Erasmus+ project Metaversing4Youth. Youth and Prison is dedicated to exploring how European youth initiatives can better reach and support young people in detention.
The event will bring together experts, educators, former inmates, EPEA representatives and community stakeholders to discuss key issues, including the relevance of the 11 European Youth Goals for disadvantaged young people, youth offending pathways and their evolution, the role of education, guidance and support networks in preventing recidivism.
We are also pleased to welcome Marc Hendrickx, Member of the Flemish Parliament for Justice and Enforcement, who will share his perspective on how a Flemish approach to justice and enforcement can shape the future of young people in juvenile detention, from prevention to rehabilitation and reintegration.
Join us in Stadsmagazijn, Keistraat 5–7, Antwerp at 10:00–16:00. We will have a lunch break!
Every young person has potential. Let's work together to ensure that no one is left behind.
