Breaking new ground in climate-smart agriculture and renewable energy innovation in Bangladesh!

WAVE Foundation is proud to be an implementing partner and co-host of Bangladesh’s first grid-connected Agrivoltaics Pilot Project, successfully inaugurated in Bedepota, Chuadanga.

By integrating crop production, solar energy generation, solar-powered irrigation and grid connectivity on the same land, the pilot demonstrates how agriculture and clean energy can work together rather than compete for scarce land resources.
With a capacity of approximately 50 kWp, the project is already connected to the national grid and supports irrigation for approximately 50 acres of agricultural land, benefiting around 200 farmers while reducing dependence on diesel-powered irrigation. It will also serve as a real-world learning platform to generate evidence on agricultural productivity, energy performance, water use, socio-economic benefits, and the potential for wider replication.

The event was graced by Mr. Muhammad Khalequzzaman, Joint Secretary, Power Division; Engr. Md. Muzibur Rahman, Director, SREDA; Mr. Ulrich Kleppmann, German Embassy; Ms. Christine Ziss, KfW Development Bank; Mr. S. M. Monirul Islam, MD of IDCOL along with other sector experts. Ms Stoyanka Stich of GIZ Bangladesh, Ms Tanzina Dilshad, Delegation of the European Union, and Nasefa Ali, Deputy Executive Director of WAVE Foundation, delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the inauguration and highlighting the significance of this pioneering initiative.

In collaboration with The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), the Power Division, KFW Development Bank- Germany, Infrastructure Development Company Limited - IDCOL , and Fraunhofer ISE, WAVE is contributing to this pioneering initiative, paving the way for a climate-resilient, energy-secure, and sustainable future for Bangladesh.

On International Youth Day 2026, WAVE Foundation brought together 151 young people, green entrepreneurs, and relevant stakeholders in Chuadanga under the Youth Connect: Youth Green Entrepreneurship project. Reflecting the theme, ‘Different Contexts, Common Aspirations’, the day featured a vibrant rally, a discussion on green entrepreneurship and youth opportunities, and tree sapling distribution, highlighting young people’s shared vision for a greener, more inclusive, and prosperous future.

The Youth Green Entrepreneurship Development Project, under the Youth Connect programme of British Council, aims to equip young people with leadership and entrepreneurship skills, including green entrepreneurship, to foster entrepreneurial thinking and ambition among youth, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.

জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাব আজ আমাদের জীবনের প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রকে স্পর্শ করছে। এই চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় প্রয়োজন এমন একটি সমাজ, যেখানে নারী, তরুণ, প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠী এবং স্থানীয় জনগণের মতামত, অংশগ্রহণ ও নেতৃত্ব সমানভাবে গুরুত্ব পায়। জেন্ডার ইকুয়ালিটি ট্রান্সফর্মস ক্লাইমেট অ্যাকশন (GETCA) প্রকল্প সেই লক্ষ্যেই কাজ করছে—স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে জলবায়ু সুশাসনকে শক্তিশালী করা, নাগরিক অংশগ্রহণ বৃদ্ধি করা এবং টেকসই ও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক জলবায়ু অভিযোজনকে এগিয়ে নেওয়ার মাধ্যমে।

“July 2024 proved the immense potential of our youth to reshape society. But true transformation requires continuous practice, truth-checking and grassroots connection. The question now is: How will you bring these tools to your communities?” asked Mohsin Ali, Founder & Executive Director, WAVE Foundation, joining as a special guest at the three-day Bootcamp held from July 28 to 30, 2026, at the Hotel Grand Sultan Tea Resort and Golf in Sreemangal, Sylhet.

Addressing the participants as youth colleagues, he also shared that youth must not only acquire digital skills but actively practice them, analyse local policies and bring evidence-based recommendations directly to duty-bearers through constructive dialogues. The youth participants were deeply inspired by Mohsin Ali’s address and pledged to combat online misinformation and commit to verify digital facts, engage in local policy dialogues and carry Bootcamp learning to marginalised tea garden workers and ethnic communities.

Organized under the “Loud and Clear: Empowering Youth Voices 2.0” project, WAVE Foundation organized 2 back-to-back Bootcamp events for University Club youth and CSO youth, respectively. The Sreemangal Bootcamps brought together 60 young participants representing five grassroots CSOs and four University Clubs in two separate Bootcamps. These camps were organized to equip youth with MIL, digital safety and constructive dialogue techniques, designed to be fast-paced and to utilise Human-Centred Design (HCD) principles. These are the 7th and 8th Bootcamps of the series of 10 (5 for University Club Youth and 5 for CSO youth).

The Bootcamp was implemented by WAVE Foundation in partnership with DW Akademie, co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Later in August 2026, WAVE is preparing to extend its footprint in Chattogram with similar bootcamps for the youth.
