GATE-SELTA Strengthens Academic Collaboration with North East University Bangladesh (NEUB)

On Monday, 06 October 2025, a delegation from GATE-SELTA paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Dr. Mohammad Iqbal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of North East University Bangladesh (NEUB), to discuss avenues of mutual cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on promoting English language teaching, training, and research through joint initiatives and institutional collaboration.

GATE-SELTA Chairman, Rtn. Mohammad Shams Uddin, Principal of Scholarshome, Shibganj Campus, and Secretary, Ashraful Wadud, English Lecturer at Jaintia Degree College, Sylhet, expressed their keen interest in working as a partner institution with NEUB to advance shared academic goals. In response, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor warmly welcomed the proposal and assured his full cooperation and support for future joint activities. Mr. Muhammad Shamsul Kabir, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English at NEUB, was also present during the meeting and contributed meaningfully.

As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, the Chairman and Secretary of GATE-SELTA received tokens of love from the Vice Chancellor.

This visit marks the beginning of a promising partnership aimed at fostering professional growth, academic innovation, and excellence in English education.

ইংলিশ টিচারদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গেইট সেল্টা কাজ করছে: এ কে এম আব্দুল্লাহ

সিলেট অঞ্চলের মাধ্যমিক ও উচ্চ শিক্ষা উপপরিচালক (ভারপ্রাপ্ত) এ. কে. এম. আব্দুল্লাহ বলেছেন, ইংলিশ টিচারদের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধিতে গেইট সেল্টা কাজ করছে।এই প্রতিষ্ঠান সম্পর্কে আগে জানার সুযোগ পেলে সিলেট, সুনামগঞ্জ, হবিগঞ্জ ও মৌলভীবাজার জেলার শিক্ষকদের সরকারি পৃষ্ঠপোষকতায় প্রশিক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা নিতে পারতাম।তিনি সিলেট অঞ্চলের শিক্ষার উন্নয়নে সংশ্লিষ্ট শিক্ষা কর্মকর্তাদের গেইট সেল্টার পাশে দাঁড়াতে অনুরোধ জানান।এ কে এম আব্দুল্লাহ সোমবার তাঁর সম্মানে আয়োজিত বিদায় সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে এসব কথা বলেন।

ইংরেজি প্রশিক্ষণমূলক প্রতিষ্ঠান সিলেট ইংলিশ ল্যাংগুয়েজ টিচার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনগেইট সেল্টা, সিলেট এর পক্ষ থেকে এ সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয়।গেইট সেল্টার সভাপতি ও সিলেট সরকারী পাইলট উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের সিনিয়র শিক্ষক আবু নছর মোহাম্মদ সুফিয়ান এর সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জেলা শিক্ষা অফিসার এ. এস. এম. আব্দুল ওয়াদুদ, স্কলার্সহোম, শিবগঞ্জ ক্যাম্পাস এর অধ্যক্ষ মোহাম্মদ শামছ উদ্দিন।

অনুষ্ঠানটি উপস্থাপনা করেন জৈন্তিয়া ডিগ্রি কলেজের ইংরেজি প্রভাষক ও গেইট সেল্টার সেক্রেটারি আশরাফুল ওয়াদুদ। শুরুতে পবিত্র কুরআন থেকে তিলাওয়াত করেন গেইট সেল্টার সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক মাহবুবুর রহমান। এরপর আশরাফুল ওয়াদুদের শুভেচ্ছা বক্তব্যের পাশাপাশি গেইট সেল্টার কার্যক্রম সম্পর্কে উপস্থিত সকলকে অবহিত করেন।

সংবর্ধনা অনুষ্ঠানে বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের গুণী শিক্ষক ও বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গ তাদের বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন।সভায় বক্তব্য রাখেন, নর্থ ইস্ট ইউনিভার্সিটি, সিলেট এর ইংরেজি বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান মো: সামছুল কবির, দি এইডেড হাই স্কুল এর প্রধান শিক্ষক মো: শমসের আলী, সিলেট অনলাইন প্রেস ক্লাবের সভাপতি গোলজার আহমদ হেলাল, নুরজাহান মেমোরিয়াল মহিলা ডিগ্রি কলেজের বাংলা বিভাগের সহকারী অধ্যাপক ও বিভাগীয় প্রধান মো: আব্দুল আজিজ, সিলেট সরকারি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের সহকারী শিক্ষক সহিদুল আলম, দক্ষিণ সুরমা সরকারি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি শিক্ষক আনোয়ার হোসেন, শাহজালাল জামেয়া স্কুল এন্ড কলেজের ইংরেজি প্রভাষক ও গেইট সেল্টার পাবলিকেশন সেক্রেটারি মো: মুহিবুর রহমান, পাড়ারগাঁও আইডিয়াল কলেজ, সুনামগঞ্জ এর প্রভাষক সাহেদ আহমদ এবং বাংলাদেশ প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় সহকারী শিক্ষক সমিতি, সিলেট জেলার সভাপতি প্রমথেশ দত্ত।

𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬' 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 (𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁), in collaboration with 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄-𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐀, successfully conducted a School-Based ELT Training Program for Teachers at 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 & 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 (𝐊𝐇𝐒𝐂), Uposhohor, Sylhet. The training session was held on 20th June 2025.
The training session was designed to enhance the pedagogical skills of English teachers and concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation. 𝐊𝐇𝐒𝐂 Teachers actively participated in the session with great enthusiasm and engagement.
𝐏𝐨𝐞𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐳𝐦𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲, the Principal of 𝐊𝐇𝐒𝐂, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁 and 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄-𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐀 for selecting his institution for this valuable initiative. He highly appreciated the engaging and insightful training session delivered by 𝐑𝐭𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐔𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧, Vice-President of 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁 and Founder Chairman of 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄-𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐀. He also acknowledged the sincere efforts of Ashraful Wadud, Secretary of 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄-𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐀 and 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁, Sylhet Division, for coordinating the session.
In his remarks, 𝐑𝐭𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐔𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧 encouraged teachers to view teaching as an act of worship, emphasizing the noble responsibility they carry. On behalf of 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁 and 𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐄-𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐓𝐀, Ashraful Wadud thanked the 𝐊𝐇𝐒𝐂 authority for their support and hospitality.
After concluding the session, 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁 Vice-President 𝐑𝐭𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐔𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧 briefed the teachers about 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁 and its various activities, encouraging them to join the association. The teachers responded spontaneously and agreed to be actively involved in 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁’s future initiatives. The Principal and teachers of 𝐊𝐇𝐒𝐂 also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to 𝐌𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐦 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡, President of 𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐁, for initiating this impactful training program. The program marked a significant step forward in promoting professional development among English teachers in the region.
