On 20 May 2026, the Bandarban Team of the Climate Resilient Livelihood Improvement and Watershed Management (CRLIWM-CHT) Sector Project – Resettlement & Rehabilitation (RR) Component carried out a Need Assessment Survey along the Kumari–Fashiakhali Road.

The team collected photos and video documentation to support the survey findings, ensuring evidence-based planning for upcoming resettlement and rehabilitation activities.

This initiative reflects the project’s commitment to strengthening community-focused infrastructure development and ensuring compliance with safeguard standards, while documenting local realities for transparent and inclusive implementation.

On the 19-20 May 2026, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) and PMO formally handed over the Shizokmukh to Ziroline alignment (SPB-2) to resettlement NGO Taungya, following completion of the conditional survey.

The handover included all necessary documentation, enabling RNGO-Taungya to begin land acquisition and resettlement activities in line with the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Involuntary Resettlement and Safeguard Policy and the Government of Bangladesh’s Land Acquisition Law (ARIPA 2017).

β€’ Road length: 2.50 km, classified as a Union Road
β€’ Upgraded from HBB to BC standard
β€’ Connects Bagheisori (Baghaichari) Upazila Sadar Road to Sarbotoli- Amtoli Road
β€’ Benefits: safer access for students, smoother transport of agricultural goods, and improved access to health facilities

This initiative is part of the Climate Resilient Livelihoods Improvement and Watershed Management in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CRLIWM-CHT) Sector Project, jointly funded by ADB and the Government of Bangladesh.

Under this project, LGED as construction authority and Taungya as resettlement NGO are implementing over 23 km of road infrastructure and resettlement activities in Bagheisori (Baghaichari) Upazila, strengthening regional connectivity and resilience for local communities.

News Update: LGED and PMO Hands Over SPB-2 Alignment to R-NGO Taungya

On 18 May 2026, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Rangamati formally handed over the SPB-2 Sadar Upazila alignmentβ€”Mahurum College Road (Kutukchari UPC to Chegiachari via Badolchari Road) to the officials of R-NGO Taungya.

The handover included the Road Condition Survey papers for the 3.00 km alignment, catagorised as a Union Road under LGED standards.

Following this transfer, R-NGO Taungya will initiate land acquisition and resettlement activities in a facilitative manner in the sub-project area in line with the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Involuntary Resettlement Policy and the Government of Bangladesh’s Land Acquisition Law (ARIPA 2017).
