RUET GIS Club RUET GIS Club is an organization dealing with enriching students with various applications of GIS-RS

The RUET Geographic Information Systems Club is an academic organization of the Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology campus that deals with the application of GIS and RS in our daily life, activities, and various aspects of research fields like discovery and application of new technologies, drone-based mapping, statistical analysis with maps, and spatial & temporal observation of data a

long with student/teacher led info sessions, and create seminars and workshops related to GIS applications. The RUET GIS Club is working to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) with the integration of SDG 06: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 13: Climate Action in all of its activities.

GIS transforms data into actionable insights by mapping the environmental issues but maps alone cannot create change, people do.

🌍 Comparative Analysis of Spectral Indices of Dhaka District Using Landsat 8 Imagery (2026)

🛰️ This study presents a spatial comparison of NDVI, NDWI, NDBI, and LST across Dhaka District using Landsat 8 imagery.

🌱 NDVI highlights vegetation density,
💧 NDWI identifies water and moisture presence,
🏙️ NDBI represents built-up urban areas, and
🌡️ LST shows land surface temperature variation.

📊 Together, these indices reveal the relationship between urban expansion, vegetation cover, water distribution, and thermal conditions, providing valuable insights for sustainable urban and environmental planning.
