Calling our Disability Unite community - we need your help!

Disability Unite is - and always will be - committed to free events for all to attend. Disability Pride events should be a standard, not something you have to fight for! But if we don't make ourselves known, public funding won't be directed toward essential activities for visibility, culture, and community connection.

Please sign and share this petition, urging New York City Council to support free, accessible, disability-led events across all five boroughs:

Located in Central Park NYC, we're incredibly grateful for the partnership of the city agencies and sponsors who support funding for disabled artists, access accommodations, and so much more.

This funding is critical to keeping both Disability Unite events and the Disability Pride Parade NYC free, accessible, and led by the disability community itself.

We deeply appreciate your action, and can't wait to celebrate together in July!

As we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States and the 36th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, our 2026 Disability Unite Festival theme, “A More Accessible Union,” reflects on the ideals of freedom and equality and the foundation of access and inclusion that can unite us all. It honors the ongoing work of the disability community to build a more connected, welcoming, and equitable future, and celebrates disability pride through art and culture as a powerful expression of belonging, creativity, and community. It calls for recognition that disability rights are human rights, and that the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness belongs to us all.

This event is more than a show! It’s a fundraiser helping both our organizations expand opportunities for artists with disabilities. Every contribution goes directly toward paying and hiring more disabled artists for our flagship festivals, supporting their work, and building a more inclusive arts scene for all.

We’re so excited to be teaming up with Squeaky Wheel Media, whose commitment to representation and paying disabled artists aligns perfectly with our community-driven mission. This partnership marks the beginning of something special and we can’t wait to share it with you.

The Squeaky Wheel mission is simple and powerful: use comedy to challenge ableism and uplift disabled creators. Together, we’re creating space for connection, creativity, and the kind of laughter and joy you can enjoy right from the comfort of your home, reflecting what our communities strive to create together. We encourage you to check out Squeaky Wheel Media's events happening throughout the year!

Come celebrate creativity, amplify inclusion, and be part of something that truly makes an impact! We couldn't do this without your support.

And this is just the beginning... Stay tuned this Friday for our special release of the 2026 Disability Unite Festival date and theme!
