An Unforgettable Journey of Knowledge, Leadership, and Inspiration
"The true purpose of education lies not merely in acquiring knowledge, but in experiencing the world beyond the classroom."
On 7 July 2026, the Notre Dame Debating Club Mymensingh (NDDCMym) embarked on a remarkable educational expedition that celebrated intellectual curiosity, civic awareness, and the pursuit of excellence. More than a visit to distinguished institutions, this journey became a meaningful exploration of history, leadership, democracy, and lifelong learning.
The delegation was graciously led by Fr. Donel Stephen Cruz, CSC, Director of Co-curricular Activities, alongside Mr. Md. Kazi Jasim, Moderator of the Notre Dame Debating Club and Lecturer in the Department of History, and Mr. Pronob Nokrek, Lecturer in the Department of Bangla. Their unwavering guidance and encouragement transformed this educational tour into an inspiring and unforgettable experience.
Our journey commenced at the University of Dhakaโthe cradle of intellectual awakening and the nation's most prestigious centre of higher education. Walking through its historic campus was more than a visit; it was an encounter with the legacy of scholars, visionaries, and changemakers whose ideas have shaped Bangladesh for generations.
We were warmly welcomed by the distinguished alumni of Notre Dame College Mymensingh currently pursuing their studies at the University of Dhaka. Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Suhrid Raihan, Didar, Tanoy Das, Zainul Abedin, Himel, Fahim, and Akib, whose warm hospitality, thoughtful coordination, and unwavering support made us feel truly at home. Their generosity beautifully reflected the enduring spirit of the Notre Dame family and made our visit all the more memorable.
The expedition continued to the magnificent Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban (National Parliament of Bangladesh)โan enduring symbol of democracy, constitutional values, and national pride. As we explored the architectural masterpiece envisioned by Louis I. Kahn, admired its world-renowned library, and reflected upon the nation's legislative heritage, we gained a profound appreciation for responsible leadership, democratic ideals, and public service.
We were further honoured by a gracious meeting with Honourable Member of Parliament Mr. Abu Wahab Akand, whose humility, warmth, and inspiring words left a lasting impression on every member of our delegation. His generous hospitality and invaluable encouragement are sincerely appreciated.
Our final destination was Green Herald International School, where an atmosphere of academic excellence, innovation, and heartfelt hospitality brought a memorable conclusion to an already extraordinary day. We express our deepest gratitude to Sr. Deepa Cruz, RNDM, for her gracious welcome and thoughtful reception, which made our visit both enriching and unforgettable.
For a debater, every journey is an opportunity to observe, question, analyse, and grow. This educational excursion extended far beyond the boundaries of conventional learning. It broadened our perspectives, strengthened our bonds of friendship, reinforced our commitment to intellectual integrity, and inspired us to become compassionate leaders and responsible citizens.
As we returned with hearts filled with gratitude and minds enriched by new experiences, we were reminded that the finest education is not confined within classroom wallsโit flourishes through exploration, meaningful dialogue, shared experiences, and the courage to embrace new perspectives.
May the Notre Dame Debating Club Mymensingh continue to cultivate critical thinkers, eloquent communicators, and visionary leaders who will illuminate society through wisdom, integrity, and the enduring power of dialogue.
