Bangladesh, a South Asian country heavily impacted by poverty, has been home to Alor Shondhane Manobota Shongostha (ASMS) since 2021. We operate in seven project locations across the country, aiming to break the cycle of poverty-related to poorly-constructed homes and inadequate shelter. e areas of Madaripur (City Corporation Area, Rajor, Kalkini Upazila), Dhaka (City Corporation Area), Shariatpur (Sadar Upazila), Patuakhali (Sadar Upazila), Comilla (Baramonpara Upazila) Gazipur (Sadar Upazila) and Barisal (Municipality Area and Sadar Upazila) with the office situated in the Madaripur, Dhaka. Three of the above working locations have established Project Offices that focus on local research and initiatives while using appropriate technologies to deliver housing solutions to low-income families. ASMS takes a holistic approach to development, working closely with communities, partner organizations, and other Non-Government organizations. Local, international, corporate and community volunteers work alongside our home partners to donate their time, labor, and money to help build houses. Alor Shondhane Manobota Shongostha (ASMS) began implementing disaster risk reduction projects in 2021, Water, Sanitation & Health projects in 2022, and Human Rights Education Program in 2022. T date, more than 1,182 low-income Bangladeshi families have partnered with ASMS to improve their housing, water, sanitation, and general living conditions. Above 5000 people have also received training in household financial management, improved water and sanitation, appropriate construction technologies, and disaster response and mitigation.
