Ashroy Foundation is a women headed national voluntary development organization established in 1995 in Khulna, the south-west region of Bangladesh by a group of dedicated, courageous women and social workers. The vision of this organization is “Peaceful democratic and humanitarian society where all people are living with human dignity” and the mission is “To build capacity and raise voice of the targeted population through multidimensional interventions which will lead them in establishing quality education, Agriculture, food security, good health, human rights, good governance and poverty free equitable society to live with dignity and cope with the climate change for ensuring sustainable development.” The main programme area is Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jessore, Narail, Pirojpur, Jhalokathi, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali and Barisal districts managed by 22 branch and field offices under the direct supervision of Head Office located in Khulna city. A total 351 staff including head office are engaged in field and management level. Besides, Ashroy Foundation has requisite numbers of skilled, energetic experienced and committed staff. Organizational activities are accomplished as per related policy such as HR and Administration Policy, Accounts & Finance Management Policy, Gender Policy, Disaster Risk Management Guideline, Early Recovery Policy, Vehicle Policy, Child Protection Policy, Inventory Management Guideline and so on. Ashroy Foundation works for the development of underprivileged people i.e. Poor, Landless, Distressed women and Children, Adolescents & Youth, Marginalized group, Disabled, Working children, and Orphaned children, Agricultural farmer, Local Govt. Disaster affected and vulnerable people etc. Our major programmatic area Agricultural Development, Food Security & Livelihood development, Climate Change Adaptation CCA, Disaster Risk Reduction DRR, Education, Women and Child Rights, Women Empowerment, Health & Nutrition, Human Rights and Social Justice, Good Governance, Advocacy, Networking and Lobbying. Under Agricultural development programme, Ashroy Foundation works in crops, fishery, livestock improved production, demonstration for saline tolerant and short duration varieties, demonstrated & improved technologies integrated agriculture with multi diversification cropping initiating training etc, agricultural inputs delivery, linkages establishment with service providing agencies both govt. and non government department, support for agricultural market linkage, small entrepreneurship specially for women, retailer group support and other agricultural services, IGA activities for the women and adolescent. Under Disaster Risk management programme, support for building disaster resilient community with appropriate skill, knowledge and practice on comprehensive disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, secure livelihood, water Issues, sanitation, strengthening coping mechanisms of most vulnerable communities and relevant local institution to be better equipped to access, plan, execute and manage integrated risk reduction measures under changing environment, BCC/IEC materials development, disaster friendly technology transfer, small scale mitigation etc. Under education for sustainable development, this organization support for drop out education, non formal pre primary & primary education, post literacy and continue education through life skills training and hardware support. Under health and sanitation, this organization support for the disaster friendly water & sanitation facilities for the coastal community, primary health care support, nutrition support, HIV/AIDS education, reproductive health care support, awareness training etc. Besides, AF is also involved for strengthening Women Rights and Representation in Local Government, local government facilitation, disability development and also some research programme under health, livelihood and poverty alleviation and so on. The development partner of Ashroy Foundation are Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),USAID through International Rice Research Institute IRRI, European Union through Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations Development Programme UNDP, Cordaid through Concern Universal, DFID through BUET, Action Aid Bangladesh, Concern Universal Bangladesh, Bangladesh NGO Foundation, Ministry of Social Welfare, Bureau of Non-formal Education (BNFE) through SUS, Directorate of Women Affairs and National Disability Development Foundation, Ministry of Social Welfare of Bangladesh, BRAC, Centre For Disability and Development (CDD), Disadvantaged Adolescents Working NGO’s (DAWN) Forum, Gono Sakhorota Ovijan (CAMPE) and Kumudini welfare trust, IFIC Bank Ltd and others.
