We work with communities, especially women, youth, minorities, and marginalized groups. Vision:

Rupantar envisions a just society which fosters harmony with the larger community, culture and nature. Mission:

Rupantar is dedicated to unlocking human potential, empowering people, strengthening democratic practice, promoting cultural diversity and protecting the environment. Specifically, Rupantar

’s role is to:

1. Establish democracy and governance through people’s participation

2. Promote the rights of children, youth, women, the differently able and marginalized people.

3. Resuscitate, develop and foster folk cultural forms and methods to sensitize grassroots people.

4. Build peoples’ capacity to cope with the impacts of climate change and natural disaster and to conserve natural bio-diversity.

5. promote peace and social harmony to eastablish a plularistic society. Rupantar is founded in 1992, and started its operations from 1994 in Khulna and Bagerhat district. At the beginning activities were mainly cultural; Rupantar activists performed theaters and popular folk music on various social issues. The fundamental principal of Rupantar is based on the hypothesis that culture and sustainable development are closely connected. This connection is an emerging concept in the development world. Although the identity of a society is largely determined by its culture, yet is difficult for any society to have a static sense of the culture. Both society and culture are changing simultaneously.

Today we join the kick-off meeting of the Nagorikata Project initiated – “ACTIVE”, supported by Switzerland and Canada government, with technical support from GFA. Rupantar together with other cultural organizations and artists from across the country, we are taking a collective step to protect the spirit of art, dialogue, and freedom of expression.
This is a great opportunity to begin a journey where arts and culture become tools for empathy, resistance against division, and social harmony. We need to be more active, more visible, and more united in ensuring that our cultural voices are not silenced.
Culture is not just creativity—culture is dialogue, courage, and hope.
Let the journey of ACTIVE begin.

🌱✨ The newly empowered youth of Satkhira are rising as strong local peace actors - promoting social cohesion and preventing conflict in the remote southwest coastal region of Bangladesh! 🇨🇦🤝🇧🇩

We were honoured to welcome officials from the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh 🇨🇦 during the visit to Rupantar's CFLI-supported project in Satkhira.

Mr. Philippe Bernier Arcand, Second Secretary (Political Affairs), and Mr. Nisar Ahmed, Political Advisor, attended the Youth Capacity Building Training, joined the Community Dialogue, and met with the respected Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) to observe the ongoing peacebuilding efforts.

🙏 Thanks to the Canada High Commission for boosting the youth by gifting T-shirts 👕—a gesture that inspired and encouraged these young changemakers to continue their local peace initiatives with even greater motivation.

Together, we are building stronger, more inclusive, and more peaceful communities. 🌟

Under the🇨🇦 Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) project “Building Social Cohesion and Preventing Conflict in Border Areas of Satkhira,” Rupantar has formed and activated Peace and Social Cohesion Circles (PSCCs) at Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira through participatory community meetings.

Each PSCC ensures strong youth leadership with 50% female members, clear structures, and action plans to promote peace and harmony in the community.

Grateful to the High Commission of Canada to Bangladesh for supporting this community-led peacebuilding journey. ❤
