Senior Management Strategic Meeting at Banojibi Campus by BEDS-Bangladesh

Senior Management Meeting was held with the Project and Banojibi Staff at Tiger Hall, Banojibi Campus. The session was presided over by our Chief Executive, Md. Maksudur Rahman , and facilitated by Program Director, Mr. Md. Shafiqul Islam.

The meeting focused on strategic planning for both on-campus and off-campus activities, emphasizing ways to strengthen the Banojibi Cooperative Society. Key discussions centered around ensuring the Banojibi Cooperative society’s independent operations, promoting financial sustainability, and improving the smooth ex*****on of cooperative initiatives for long-term community benefit.

Community Workshop on Solar Lighting and Clean Cooking Solutions

On 3rd November 2025, BEDS-Bangladesh organized a Community Workshop on Solar Lighting and Clean Cooking Solutions at Tiger Hall, Banojibi Campus, Dacope, Khulna, with support from the Ocean Community Empowerment and Nature Grants Programme - OCEAN .Our respected Chief Executive, Md. Maksudur Rahman , inaugurated the workshop and inspired participants with his encouraging words.The workshop brought together participants from different areas who have practical experience in making environmental cooking stoves. During the session, various traditional and improved cooking stoves were demonstrated and displayed. Participants were divided into groups to discuss challenges associated with traditional stoves, including their negative impacts on health and the environment.
Key learning highlights included:

✅ Benefits of using Improved Cooking Stoves (ICS)
🌿 Reduction of firewood use & environmental conservation
💨 Smoke-free cooking for healthier homes and cleaner air

Through interactive discussions, participants identified practical and eco-friendly solutions for developing healthier and more cost-effective cooking stoves. They also explored how these innovations can be introduced to community members for wider adoption.

Community Awareness Meeting on Mangrove Education

BEDS-Bangladesh organized a Community Awareness Meeting on Mangrove Education at Kakrabunia under the Korea Green Foundation-KGF at Kakrabunia,Banishanta,Dacope Upazila, with the enthusiastic participation of local community members. The session highlighted the importance of mangroves in protecting our coasts, conserving biodiversity, and supporting sustainable livelihoods. Key discussions included:-

✅ Preventing livestock grazing in plantation areas
✅ Climate change and coastal protection
✅ Strengthening community participation
✅ Building awareness and local capacity

Participants shared their commitment to take collective action in protecting and managing mangrove restoration sites paving the way toward a more resilient and sustainable coastal ecosystem.

Visit of Wetlands International Representatives to BEDS-Bangladesh Project Sites at Dacope sub District of Khulna

BEDS-Bangladesh had the honour of welcoming representatives from Wetlands International to our ongoing project sites in the Sundarbans region. The visit focused on observing BEDS’ initiatives in mangrove restoration both within the BEDS campus and in the surrounding community areas.

During their field visit, the delegation explored the activities of the BEDS Banojibi Cooperative Society, particularly its efforts in promoting and branding mangrove-based products that support sustainable livelihoods. They also reviewed our educational and promotional materials highlighting the importance of mangrove ecosystems and witnessed the ongoing construction of the Mangrove Education and Learning Center.

The team further visited the BEDS Eco Village, where they observed various community-based interventions promoting eco-friendly living and climate-resilient livelihoods. Their visit concluded with an inspection of the mangrove restoration sites at Dhangmari Forest Station, covering both newly established and previously restored areas, followed by a meeting with the local Forest Department officials.

BEDS extends heartfelt gratitude to Wetlands International for their keen interest, valuable insights, and continuous support in advancing our shared mission to restore and protect the mangrove ecosystem and coastal resilience of Bangladesh.
