Want to lead climate action? 🌱
Join the Youth Capacity Enhancement Workshop on Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) and build skills in climate adaptation, learn about Loss & Damage, and gain hands-on experience in Locally Led Adaptation (LLA)
The workshop is being organized by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), with support from the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and funding from the Government of the Netherlands under the Generating Ambition for Locally Led Adaptation (GA LLA) project.
What you will learn:
* A comprehensive understanding of the principles of Locally Led Adaptation (LLA)
* Key insights into Loss & Damage in climate-vulnerable contexts
* The role of youth in supporting locally led climate adaptation efforts
* Examples of youth-led initiatives and practical approaches to community-based solutions

Clean Water for All – Dacope, Bangladesh
In the climate-vulnerable coastal region of Dacope Upazila, Khulna, increasing salinity has severely limited access to safe drinking water, impacting health, livelihoods, and daily life.
Through the Clean Water for All initiative, a Pond Sand Filter (PSF) has been installed in Parjyanagar village, currently providing safe drinking water to approximately 400 people daily.
The project follows a community-centered and integrated approach, combining safe water access with hygiene awareness, menstrual health education, and a free medical camp to strengthen overall public health outcomes.
A pre- and post-intervention assessment indicates improved access to safe drinking water, reduced health risks, and increased community awareness on hygiene and health practices.
The project was officially inaugurated on 23 March 2026, with the participation of local and national stakeholders, ensuring strong community ownership and long-term sustainability.

প্রমত্তা শিবসার বুকে জেগে উঠা এক দ্বীপের নাম কালাবগী ফকিরকোনা দ্বীপ। আর দশটি গ্রামের মতো এটিও একটি গ্রাম ছিল। ছিল তাদের ধান ক্ষেত, মাছের ঘের, শাকসবজির ক্ষেত, ছিল প্রাইমারী স্কুল, মন্দির, মসজিদ।
কিন্তু ভয়াল আইলার কবলে পড়ে গ্রামটির ভেগিবাঁধ ভেঙ্গে যায় আর মুহুর্তে লন্ডভন্ড হয়ে যায়। জীবনের তাগিদে তখন বাঁশ, কাঠ, গোলপাতা দিয়ে ঝুলন্ত ঘর করে বসবাস শুরু করেন নদীর চরে। সেই থেকে নাম হয় কালাবগী ঝুলন্তপাড়া গ্রাম। সেই কালাবগী ঝুলন্তপাড়া গ্রাম ভাঙ্গনে ভাঙ্গতে ভাঙ্গতে নদীগর্ভে বিলীন হয় যায় বাকী মাটি টুকু। ফলে বিচ্ছিন্ন দ্বীপ গড়ে উঠে।

দ্বীপের এই মসজিদটি সেজেছে রঙ্গিন হয়ে। তারা তাদের সাধ্যের সর্বোচ্চ টুকু দিয়ে দ্বীপবাসী ঈদ আনন্দ ভাগাভাগি করে নিবে আগামীকাল।
এই জনপদের চিত্র এমনই এই দ্বীপটার প্রমাণ।দেশের সকল দ্বীপবাসীর মৌলিক অধিকার নিশ্চিত হোক।

Youth Climate Network had the privilege of being part of a highly engaging and insightful specialized workshop held at BRAC Center, Mohakhali , with the alumni of Amra Notun Network.
Our Honourable Founder & Director, Arafat Hossain Akash, represented the library at this event

The workshop, titled “Project-Based Curriculum and Climate-Resilient Technological Solutions,” was facilitated by Dr. Navid Saleh Sir , Professor at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Saleh is a distinguished Environmental Engineer and Water Scientist , internationally recognized for his work on affordable, science-driven solutions for water purification and environmental protection through nanotechnology.

The session highlighted the importance of:

Developing locally driven innovations** using accessible resources
Applying research and data to real-world challenges
Strengthening collaboration among youth in a technology-driven landscape

We are grateful to share that Dr. Saleh generously donated a significant number of books to Humanity Public Library , including a copy of his own authored book, to support grassroots learners and students. He also committed to contributing additional books from his personal collection and future publications.

Looking ahead, there is a shared intention to collaborate with Youth Climate Network and Humanity Public Library with strong local support, to advance community-centered initiatives. Beyond safe water solutions, we discussed opportunities for broader, holistic collaboration with coastal and Indigenous communities, focusing on inclusive and sustainable approaches to resilience and development.

Inshallah, these conversations will lead to meaningful, inclusive, and long-term collaboration. This experience reaffirms the value of global knowledge exchange combined with local action in creating lasting.

আমাদের একজন হার না মানা Rifat Shahriar আছে। তোর এই সংগ্রাম আজ হাজারো রিফাতদের স্বপ্ন দেখাতে সাহায্য করবে। দোয়া করি, বড় হয়ে সমাজের অবহেলিত মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়াবি।

বাবা থেকেও নেই। শিবসা নদীতে জাল টেনে মাছের পোনা সংগ্রহ করে সংসার চালান মা। অষ্টম শ্রেণিতে পড়ার সময় থেকে দিনমজুরির কাজ শুরু করেন রিফাত শাহরিয়ার। নালা পরিষ্কার, রাজমিস্ত্রির জোগালি, ঘাট থেকে কয়লা আনলোড করাসহ নানা ধরনের কাজ করে পড়ার খরচ জুগিয়েছেন। এভাবে লড়েই ঢাকা, রাজশাহী, চট্টগ্রামসহ মোট পাঁচটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সুযোগ পেয়েছেন। ভর্তি হয়েছেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে।
