The Sustainability Workshop: Strengthening Factory Ownership for Healthy Workers & a Productive Nation, under the Strengthening Workers’ Access to Pertinent Nutrition Opportunities (SWAPNO) project, was successfully held on 07–08 May 2026 at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Cumilla.
The two-day programme was organised by READI-Research Evaluation And Development Initiative with support from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and VF, bringing together representatives from participating factories and key stakeholders to strengthen factory-level ownership and ensure the long-term sustainability of workplace nutrition initiatives.
The workshop featured experience sharing by Phase I factories, including Xin Chang Shoes (BD) Ltd., Park BD, and Square Fashions Ltd. Interactive group work sessions were also conducted with representatives from Titas Sportswear Industries Ltd. (Youngone), Creative Collection Ltd. (Ha-Meem Group), and Debonair Ltd. (Debonair Group), focusing on best practices, lessons learned, factory-wise sustainability action plans, and practical strategies to sustain SWAPNO activities in factory settings.
We were highly honoured by the gracious presence of Khondoker Mostan Hossain, Former Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment; and Senior Adviser, GAIN, Najnin Nahar, Sustainability Specialist, Monjorul Alom, Lead RSO Safety, Nazrul Islam, Executive Director, READI, and Moniruzzaman Bipul, Portfolio Lead, GAIN. Their valuable participation, strategic insights, and continued encouragement added great significance to the programme and inspired factories to take stronger ownership of nutrition actions beyond the project period.
Together, we remain committed to building healthier workers, stronger factories, and a more productive nation.
