📢 We recently held an introductory meeting with our Executive and General Members, where our respected Student Advisors were also present. 🌍✨

This session marked our first formal interaction with the Student Advisors as a team. During the meeting, the advisors shared the journey of CUSS YouthMappers, along with their experiences, thoughts, and future plans for the chapter. They also inspired us with valuable guidance, encouraging teamwork, consistency, and active involvement in our mapping activities.

The session was highly engaging and meaningful for all members, helping us build a stronger connection within the team and gain a clearer understanding of our direction ahead. It was truly a positive and motivating start for us. 💡🗺️

Map The Trail at University of Chittagong Campus 🗺️

✨ The CUSS YouthMappers team successfully completed the field-based image collection campaign in one of the campus EcoTrail to map previously unmapped paths using Mapillary across the University of Chittagong campus.

🔰The team was divided into three groups, each assigned to different areas of the campus. Using the Mapillary app, members captured street-level images while walking along previously unmapped trails and routes, for contributing new data to OpenStreetMap later. These images will help to identify objects such as electric poles, street signs, bridges, small water bodies, waste bins and other important features.

📣 We will soon arrange a mapathon to map out unmapped areas of the campus with newly collected Mapillary data in openstreetmap using RapiD AI.

CUSS YouthMappers, University of Chittagong is going to organize an exciting field-based image collection campaign using Mapillary. Captured Mapillary images will later be used to map detailed features along the eco-trail using RapiD AI and openstreetmap.

​We have successfully concluded the final session of our 3-day online training on “Geospatial Data Creation and Analysis for Humanitarian and Disaster Response.”

​Today’s session took a deep dive into advanced analytical techniques, focusing on:
​🛰️ Basics of Remote Sensing: Understanding satellite imagery and spectral signatures.
​⛰️ DEM Data Acquisition: Learning how to source and process Digital Elevation Models.
​🌊 Flood Inundation Mapping: Synthesizing data to visualize and predict flood-affected areas.

​Participants wrapped up the series by learning how to transform raw satellite data into actionable insights, a critical skill for real-world disaster management and resilient community planning.

Day 2 Highlights || CUSS YouthMappers Online GIS Training 2026 ✨
Day 2 of our 3-days online training on “Geospatial Data Creation and Analysis for Humanitarian and Disaster Response” was successfully completed yesterday!
Yesterday’s session focused on:
🗺 Creating custom maps using Google My Maps
📍 Adding, organizing, and styling spatial data
Participants learned how to design interactive and meaningful maps, gaining hands-on experience in creating custom maps that can support humanitarian planning and disaster response initiatives.
A big thanks once again to our trainer Jannatul Naim Siam for another engaging and practical session, and to all our dedicated members for their active participation and enthusiasm!

Day 1 of our 3-days online training on “Geospatial Data Creation and Analysis for Humanitarian and Disaster Response” has been successfully completed!

Today’s session focused on:

🌍 Study Area Map creation and basic spatial concepts

Our participants were introduced to the foundations of GIS and learned how geospatial data can be used to visualize real-world problems and support humanitarian and disaster response efforts.

🗓 This February 2026, the CUSS YouthMappers Chapter is excited to organize an online training session on GIS.

🛰 About the Training
This is a 3-day online training session on Geospatial Data Creation and Analysis for Humanitarian and Disaster Response.

The session is designed to introduce our newly joined General Members to essential GIS tools and the GIS environment, enabling them to understand and respond to global challenges through data.

📌 This training session is exclusively open to CUSS YouthMappers members.
