Established in 1989 to ensure safe refuge for single mothers with basic needs, training & education.

The project provides a refuge for mothers and children for a maximum of three years. During this period, mothers learn 2-3 income generating skills, life skills, adult literacy, etc, and their children go to pre-primary and primary school level within the Village and older boys and girls go to local schools for higher levels. When a mother and her children first arrive, we check that their circumstances meet our admission criteria, and if necessary our social workers visit their village or relatives to ensure that they are truly in need. Once the family has been accepted, they spend a week or so in our clinic so that any illnesses or contagious skin problems such as scabies are diagnosed and cleared. Immediately on admission, the mother meets with our occupational therapists and sets up an agreed rehabilitation plan, centred around where she wants to live when she leaves Sreepur Village and what she would like to do to earn a living, such as agriculture, tailoring, etc. While they live with us, we pay them a small allowance each month plus a compulsory savings scheme where we put money in a bank account so that they have funds when they leave. Each year, the women vote to increase their savings rather than their monthly allowance – a welcome sign that they have started to appreciate that they need to plan for the future.

Patricia Kerr, a former British Airways flight attendant, dedicated her life to helping vulnerable mothers and children in Bangladesh after witnessing extreme poverty during a visit to Dhaka in 1981. In 1989, she founded Shishu Palli Plus (Sreepur Village) in Gazipur, providing shelter, education, healthcare, and vocational training to help struggling families become self-reliant. Since its establishment, the organization has supported more than 5,000 families, keeping mothers and children together and offering them hope for a better future. Known affectionately as “Mummy Pat” and the “Angel of the Airways,” she turned a simple act of compassion into a lasting humanitarian legacy.

Materials Development for Early Childhood Development (ECD)

Yesterday, we conducted a hands-on workshop on Materials Development for ECD, where mothers explored their creativity by making a variety of handmade play and learning materials using simple, locally available resources such as paper, clay, and cloth.

These handmade materials are designed to be used in our pre-schools, making learning more fun, interactive, and engaging for young children.

The workshop also aims to empower mothers with practical skills so they can create play and learning materials for their own children at home—using simple resources and their imagination. ❤️

Because meaningful learning doesn’t always require expensive toys—it can begin with creativity, care, and a little imagination. 🌈✨

Happy Birthday to our wonderful Pat, founder of Sreepur Village! 🎉

Today we're celebrating the incredible woman who founded Sreepur Village back in 1989, and who has dedicated her life to giving abused, abandoned and widowed mothers and their children a safe place to rebuild their lives.

Pat's vision and determination have changed hundreds of lives, and her spirit continues to inspire everyone who works alongside her in her Bangladesh and here in the UK.

Wishing you a very happy birthday, Pat. Thank you for everything you do for our mothers and their children.

বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস ২০২৬ উপলক্ষে Shoshu Polli Plus বিভিন্ন সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে দিনটি উদযাপন করেছে।

দিনের শুরুতে সকল মা- শিশু ও স্টাফদের অংশগ্রহণে একটি বর্ণাঢ্য র‍্যালি অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এরপর পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ ও জলবায়ু সচেতনতা বিষয়ে একটি সচেতনতামূলক সেশন আয়োজন করা হয়, যেখানে শিশুদের বর্জ্য পৃথকীকরণের গুরুত্ব এবং বিভিন্ন ধরনের বর্জ্য আলাদা বিনে ফেলার পদ্ধতি সম্পর্কে ধারণা দেওয়া হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানের অংশ হিসেবে পরিবেশ বিষয়ক একটি তথ্যচিত্র (Documentary Film) প্রদর্শন করা হয়, যা শিশুদের পরিবেশ রক্ষা, জীববৈচিত্র্য সংরক্ষণ এবং টেকসই জীবনযাপনের গুরুত্ব সম্পর্কে আরও সচেতন করে তোলে।

এছাড়াও শিশুদের অংশগ্রহণে একটি চিত্রাঙ্কন প্রতিযোগিতা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে তারা তাদের সৃজনশীলতার মাধ্যমে পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণের বার্তা তুলে ধরে। দিনের শেষ পর্বে বৃক্ষরোপণ কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে একটি সবুজ ও টেকসই ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ার অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করা হয়।

আসুন, আমরা সবাই পরিবেশ রক্ষায় সচেতন হই এবং আগামী প্রজন্মের জন্য একটি সুন্দর, নিরাপদ ও বাসযোগ্য পৃথিবী গড়ে তুলি।

ঈদ-উল-আযহার আনন্দে মুখর শিশু পল্লী প্লাস পরিবার

ভালোবাসা, আনন্দ আর উৎসবের আমেজে শিশু পল্লী প্লাসে উদযাপিত হলো পবিত্র ঈদ-উল-আযহা।

দিনব্যাপী নানা সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান, মজার খেলাধুলা, শিশুদের প্রাণবন্ত অংশগ্রহণ এবং সুস্বাদু খাবারের আয়োজন সবাইকে এনে দেয় এক আনন্দঘন মুহূর্ত।

শিশু, মা ও শিশু পল্লী প্লাস পরিবারের সদস্যদের হাসি আর উচ্ছ্বাসে পুরো পরিবেশ হয়ে ওঠে উৎসবমুখর। একসাথে আনন্দ ভাগাভাগি করে নেওয়ার এই আয়োজন আমাদের ভালোবাসা ও সম্প্রীতিকে আরও দৃঢ় করেছে।

ঈদের আনন্দে রঙিন শৈশব! 🌙

পবিত্র ঈদুল আজহা উপলক্ষে শীশু পল্লী প্লাসের শিশুদের হাতে হাতে মেহেদির রঙে ফুটে উঠেছে উৎসবের উচ্ছ্বাস। ছোট্ট ছোট্ট স্বপ্ন, হাসি আর আনন্দে ভরে উঠেছে তাদের ঈদের প্রস্তুতি।

প্রতিটি রঙিন নকশা যেন বয়ে আনে ভালোবাসা, আশা ও আনন্দের বার্তা। ❤️

পহেলা বৈশাখের আনন্দে একসাথে শিশু পল্লী প্লাস!

শিশু পল্লী প্লাস পরিবার আনন্দ ও উৎসাহের সাথে বরণ করে নিয়েছে বাংলা নববর্ষ। আমাদের মা ও শিশুরা এবং সকল স্টাফ একসাথে একটি বর্ণাঢ্য শোভাযাত্রায় অংশগ্রহণ করে এই উৎসবকে করেছে আরও প্রাণবন্ত। ❤️

এরপর সবাই মিলে উপভোগ করেছে বাংলার ঐতিহ্যবাহী খাবার, ভাগ করে নিয়েছে হাসি, আনন্দ আর ভালোবাসা। 🥰

নতুন বছর সবার জীবনে বয়ে আনুক সুখ, শান্তি ও নতুন সম্ভাবনা।
