Empowering the Next Generation of Environment Leaders in Bangladesh

Bangladesh River Foundation and Mission Green Bangladesh, in association with Prakriti o Jibon Foundation and the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Dhaka, proudly announce the Youth4Nature Fellowship Program - a transformative four month leadership journey for passionate young changemakers committed to protecting the environment of Bangladesh.
This exclusive fellowship will select 30 dedicated youth leaders to work on real world environment challenges through research, conservation action, community engagement, and national level awareness campaigns. Fellows will gain hands on field experience, expert mentorship, and the opportunity to contribute to sustainable river solutions for Bangladesh.

Fellowship Duration
4 Months | Intensive Hybrid Format
Includes training, fieldwork, campaign ex*****on, and final impact presentation.

Fellowship Themes: Pollution and waste management, River erosion and climate vulnerability, Biodiversity and ecosystem restoration, Governance and policy reform, Community livelihood and environment dependency, Youth advocacy and environmental communication

Who Can Apply

আকাশের উচ্চতা থেকে দেখা প্রকৃতির অপার সৌন্দর্য—সবুজ পাহাড়ের বুক চিরে আঁকাবাঁকা পথে বয়ে চলেছে মাতামুহরী নদী। দূর থেকে মনে হয় যেন সবুজ ক্যানভাসের উপর প্রকৃতি নিজের হাতে এঁকেছে এক জীবন্ত জলরেখা।
পাহাড়ের ঢাল বেয়ে নেমে আসা ছোট ছোট ঝরনা আর পাহাড়ি ঢেউয়ের ভাঁজে ভাঁজে নদীর বাঁক এই অঞ্চলের ভূপ্রকৃতির অনন্য সৌন্দর্যকে তুলে ধরে। কখনও সরু, কখনও প্রশস্ত হয়ে নদীটি যেন পাহাড়ি জনপদের জীবন, কৃষি ও জীববৈচিত্র্যের নীরব সঙ্গী হয়ে বয়ে চলেছে।
এই আকাশদৃশ্য আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয়—নদী শুধু জলধারা নয়; এটি পাহাড়, বন, মানুষ ও জীববৈচিত্র্যের এক অদৃশ্য বন্ধন। তাই মাতামুহরী নদীকে রক্ষা করা মানে এই পুরো পাহাড়ি প্রকৃতির ভারসাম্যকে রক্ষা করা।

বাংলাদেশের পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ এবং বিপন্ন নদ-নদী রক্ষায় তরুণ প্রজন্মকে নেতৃত্বের কাতারে তুলে আনতে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে যাত্রা শুরু করল ‘ইউথ ফর নেচার’ (Youth4Nature) ফেলোশিপ ২০২৬।

চার মাসব্যাপী এই বিশেষ ফেলোশিপ কর্মসূচিটি আয়োজন করেছে বাংলাদেশ রিভার ফাউন্ডেশন ও Mission Green Bangladesh (MGB), ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়-এর গণযোগাযোগ ও সাংবাদিকতা বিভাগ এবং Prokriti O Jibon Foundation।

এই ফেলোশিপের মূল লক্ষ্য হলো—নদী, প্রকৃতি ও পরিবেশ রক্ষায় সচেতন, দক্ষ ও দায়িত্বশীল তরুণ পরিবেশ নেতৃত্ব তৈরি করা। প্রশিক্ষণ, মাঠপর্যায়ের কাজ, গবেষণা ও নেটওয়ার্কিংয়ের সমন্বয়ে সাজানো এই কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা পরিবেশ আন্দোলনে কার্যকর ভূমিকা রাখার বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জনের সুযোগ পাবেন।

Rivers are the lifelines of our region - supporting food security, livelihoods, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Yet, across the Asia-Pacific, rivers are under growing threat from pollution, climate change, and unsustainable development. To address these challenges through collaboration and action, we are proud to announce the International Conference on Sustainable River Management 2026, to be held from 10–14 April 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This regional platform will bring together policymakers, river scientists, climate researchers, environmental practitioners, youth leaders, development partners, and sustainability-focused businesses from across the Asia-Pacific region.
🔹 What to expect:
• High-level policy dialogues on river governance and climate resilience
• Expert-led panels on transboundary rivers, community-led conservation, and innovation
• Technical workshops and youth dialogues
• Field learning visits and community engagement
• Regional networking and cultural exchange

🔹 Event Agenda for 5 days:
Day 1- Arrival and Regional Networking: Participant arrival in Kuala Lumpur, registration, informal networking, and a welcome session to align expectations and build regional connections.
Day 2- Core Conference and Policy Dialogue: Full-day conference featuring keynote addresses, high-level panels on river governance, climate resilience, community-led conservation, innovation, and financing, alongside technical workshops and youth dialogues.
Day 3- Field Learning and Community Engagement: On-ground visits to river systems and local communities to understand real-world challenges, livelihoods, pollution issues, and climate adaptation practices.
Day 4- Cultural and Ecological Exchange: Guided cultural and ecological visits, cross-cultural interaction, and informal networking to strengthen regional solidarity and people-to-people collaboration.
Day 5- Urban Water Governance and Closing: Exposure visit to urban water governance models, followed by the closing session, conference declaration, and participant departure.

Keynote Speaker Announcement for International Conference on Sustainable River Management 2026 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We are honored to welcome Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman as a Keynote Speaker at the International Conference on Sustainable River Management 2026.
Dr. Haliza Abdul Rahman is Head of Laboratory at Universiti Putra Malaysia, affiliated with the Institute for Social Science Studies and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her work bridges environmental science, public health, and climate resilience, with a strong focus on sustainable ecosystems and community wellbeing in the face of growing environmental challenges.

🎤 Keynote Topic:
Enhancing River Resilience in an Era of Climate Extremes

Her keynote will explore how river systems can be strengthened to withstand climate extremes through integrated science, adaptive governance, and resilience driven strategies. She will highlight innovative approaches that connect environmental sustainability, public health, and climate adaptation to safeguard river ecosystems and vulnerable communities.
