When the monsoon rains kept people indoors, storytelling became more than entertainment—it was a way of making sense of the world. Through humor, irony, folklore, and a touch of the impossible, Bengali culture transformed everyday experiences into shared narratives, preserving memory, wisdom, and imagination across generations.

Edge, The Foundation is reviving this storytelling tradition through Monsoon Tall Tales: আষাঢ়ে গল্প—a writing competition built around one simple yet challenging question: Can the absurd reveal the truth?

We invite stories inspired by Surrealism, Kafkaesque absurdism, and institutional satire, where imagination serves a deeper purpose. Every story must carry an underlying moral or intellectual core. Set against the backdrop of the monsoon, your story should use the surreal to uncover social myths, question bureaucratic absurdities, inspire civic empathy, or reflect on environmental consciousness. We seek tales where the strange is not an end in itself, but a powerful lens through which truth becomes visible.

The Prize Pool: 10,000 BDT for 1st place, 7,000 BDT for 2nd place, and 5,000 BDT for 3rd place, plus certificates, and the top 10 stories will be published on our official website.

On World Earth Day 2026, Edge, The Foundation in collaboration with Shwapno Youth Development Organization brought artists and activists together for One Earth, One Art at Edge Gallery, Dhaka.

A powerful panel discussion on youth-led environmental advocacy was followed by a collaborative mural painting. Crafted entirely from recycled materials, the mural symbolizes our shared responsibility to protect the planet.

Together, we commit to a conscious future—where creativity drives action for a healthier, sustainable Earth.
