ASHRAE Falcon Chapter UAE invites you to attend a technical webinar on the topic “Low-GWP Refrigerant Transition: Policy, Funding Mechanisms, and Manufacturing Reality in Bangladesh & GCC”

The Webinar Details:
The global phase-down of high-GWP refrigerants under the Kigali Amendment is driving significant change in HVAC&R systems. However, adoption in developing markets faces challenges such as cost constraints, skill gaps, and regulatory variability. This lecture evaluates practical low-GWP alternatives including A2L and A3 refrigerants, focusing on real-world applicability rather than theoretical performance. It compares safety, efficiency, availability, and infrastructure requirements across different system types. The session also addresses the transition guided by UN agencies and the Multilateral Fund (MLF). The MLF (est. 1991) finances incremental costs for Article-5 countries. Key agencies include UNDP (lead Implementing Agency for HCFC/HFC phase-out projects) and UNEP (Ozone Secretariat, MLF Secretariat, technical assistance). Bilateral partners like GIZ (German Proklima/Green Cooling projects) provide training and policy support. retrofit versus new system decisions, highlighting where transition strategies succeed or fail.

Speaker: Eng. Md Noor Alam

The webinar is in collaboration with the following ASHRAE chapters: Suadi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanese, Cairo, Sudan, Pakistan, Ghana, Nigeria, Bangladesh

The refrigeration industry is entering one of the most important transitions in its history.

From Kigali Amendment compliance to real-world manufacturing challenges, the shift toward low-GWP refrigerants is no longer a future discussion. It is happening now across developing economies, factories, cold chains, and HVAC&R systems.

Mr. Noor Alam, Regional Refrigeration Chair, ASHRAE RAL will speak at the upcoming ASHRAE Falcon Chapter webinar on:

Low-GWP Refrigerant Transition: Policy, Funding Mechanisms, and Manufacturing Reality in Bangladesh & GCC

As ASHRAE Region RAL Regional Refrigeration Chair, he looks forward to sharing practical perspectives from the ground, including:

• Low-GWP refrigerant alternatives including A2L and A3 applications
• Policy and regulatory transition challenges in developing markets
• UN agencies, MLF funding, and international support mechanisms
• Manufacturing realities for Bangladesh and GCC industries
• Retrofit vs new-system strategies for sustainable cooling

This transition is not only about refrigerants.
It is about energy efficiency, safety, affordability, food security, industrial competitiveness, and building a sustainable cooling future for emerging economies.

We're looking forward to engaging with engineers, manufacturers, consultants, policymakers, and young professionals from across the region.
