Today, on Earth Day, we honor the planet that sustains us and renew our commitment to protect its air, water, and biodiversity. Together we can reduce waste, conserve energy, and support equitable solutions that build resilient communities for today and for future generations.

Earth Day is a call to safeguard a livable planet, and war is a major, often hidden driver of emissions and environmental destruction—undermining climate justice and inflicting long-term harm on ecosystems and communities.

On this Earth Day, I urge world leaders to end ongoing wars, pursue diplomacy and humanitarian relief, and commit to green reconstruction.

We must embrace the spirit of the Three Zeros—zero poverty, zero unemployment, zero net carbon—as a single, unified vision for our planet. The environmental crisis and human suffering are two sides of the same coin: damaged ecosystems deepen poverty, and poverty drives destructive practices. To heal the Earth, we must also heal our social systems.

⁠ℹ "Upscaling Airborne LiDAR-based Estimates of Understory Vegetation Density using Machine Learning to Enable Broad-Scale Maping"

"I chose to pursue a Master’s at the University of Utah to explore how geospatial technologies can help address environmental challenges. My thesis focused on mapping understory vegetation density across U.S. forests using airborne LiDAR and machine learning, research that contributes to large-scale monitoring of ecosystem dynamics, understory vegetation structure, and wildfire risk assessment.

After graduation, I will be joining Oklahoma State University for a PhD in Geography to continue advancing remote sensing research."

Saving nature and birds is essential for maintaining the balance of our ecosystem. Nature provides us with clean air, water, and resources necessary for survival, while birds play a vital role in pollination, seed dispersal, and controlling pests. However, due to deforestation, pollution, and climate change, both natural habitats and bird populations are under serious threat. Therefore, it is our responsibility to protect the environment, preserve wildlife, and create awareness so that future generations can enjoy a healthy and sustainable planet.

A human chain is an effective form of awareness program where individuals stand together in a line, often holding hands or displaying placards, to demonstrate unity and highlight important social and environmental concerns. We have participated in such initiatives in front of the National Press Club to advocate for the protection of the Sundarbans against the coal fired power plant.
