Today, as part of the Equal Bangladesh Campaign, we had a productive and meaningful meeting with the Hon’ble Acting Speaker of Parliament, Barrister Kayser Kamal, to discuss the formation of a Parliamentary Caucus for Persons with Disabilities.

The discussion focused on strengthening the political participation, representation, and meaningful inclusion of persons with disabilities in decision-making processes.

The proposed caucus could create an important platform for bringing disability rights and inclusion into parliamentary discussions and for strengthening collaboration between Parliament, policymakers, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).

It was encouraging to have this important conversation at the parliamentary level. We hope this initiative will pave the way for meaningful action towards a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable Bangladesh.

We are deeply saddened to share that our respected Vice President of National Council of Disabled Women, Ms.Rokeya, passed away yesterday.

For over two decades, she worked tirelessly for the rights and empowerment of persons with disabilities at the grassroots level.

On behalf of the National Council of Disabled Women we pray to Almighty Allah for the forgiveness and eternal peace of her departed soul, and may He grant her Jannatul Firdaus while giving her bereaved family the strength to bear this loss, Ameen.

প্রতিবন্ধিতার কারণে যিনি একসময় সমাজে অবহেলার শিকার হয়েছিলেন, আজ তিনিই স্থাপন করেছেন নেতৃত্ব আর মানবিকতার এক অনন্য দৃষ্টান্ত। তিনি রংপুরের এক অদম্য নারী- নাসিমা আক্তার, প্রতিবন্ধী নারীদের জাতীয় পরিষদ এর সভাপতি ।

তাঁকে দমিয়ে রাখতে পারেনি কারো কটু কথা কিংবা প্রতিবন্ধিতা। সফলতার সাথে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন রংপুরের দশ হাজারেরও অধিক প্রতিবন্ধী নারীদের সংগঠনকে সাথে নিয়ে, দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন সমতার বাংলাদেশ ক্যাম্পেইন স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির সভাপতি হিসেবে।

তিনি স্বপ্ন দেখেন এমন এক অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সমতার বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মানের যেখানে নারীরা মানুষ হিসেবে নিজেদের অধিকার ভোগ করতে পারবেন, নারীদের প্রতি থাকবে না কোনো বৈষম্য কিংবা পরিবারের অবহেলা, যেখানে নারী নেতৃত্বে বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়াবে না কোনো প্রতিবন্ধিতা।
এই প্রত্যয় ধারণ করে সমতার বাংলাদেশ-এর পক্ষ থেকে সকল নারীদের জানাই আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা।

On Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, we celebrated the 34th International and 27th National Day of Persons with Disabilities at Union Parishad, Hnilla, under the ECHO project funded by Handicapped International. This year's theme, "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress," highlights the vital role persons with disabilities play in building an inclusive, equitable world.

The day featured a variety of activities, including a rally, sports competitions, a stall exhibition by women with disabilities, and a discussion meeting. With 87 participants, the event successfully raised awareness about the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in education, employment, and all areas of life. Together, we continue to push for greater accessibility and inclusion for all!
