প্রতিবন্ধিতার কারণে যিনি একসময় সমাজে অবহেলার শিকার হয়েছিলেন, আজ তিনিই স্থাপন করেছেন নেতৃত্ব আর মানবিকতার এক অনন্য দৃষ্টান্ত। তিনি রংপুরের এক অদম্য নারী- নাসিমা আক্তার, প্রতিবন্ধী নারীদের জাতীয় পরিষদ এর সভাপতি ।

তাঁকে দমিয়ে রাখতে পারেনি কারো কটু কথা কিংবা প্রতিবন্ধিতা। সফলতার সাথে নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছেন রংপুরের দশ হাজারেরও অধিক প্রতিবন্ধী নারীদের সংগঠনকে সাথে নিয়ে, দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন সমতার বাংলাদেশ ক্যাম্পেইন স্টিয়ারিং কমিটির সভাপতি হিসেবে।

তিনি স্বপ্ন দেখেন এমন এক অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক সমতার বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মানের যেখানে নারীরা মানুষ হিসেবে নিজেদের অধিকার ভোগ করতে পারবেন, নারীদের প্রতি থাকবে না কোনো বৈষম্য কিংবা পরিবারের অবহেলা, যেখানে নারী নেতৃত্বে বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়াবে না কোনো প্রতিবন্ধিতা।
এই প্রত্যয় ধারণ করে সমতার বাংলাদেশ-এর পক্ষ থেকে সকল নারীদের জানাই আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবসের শুভেচ্ছা।

On Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, we celebrated the 34th International and 27th National Day of Persons with Disabilities at Union Parishad, Hnilla, under the ECHO project funded by Handicapped International. This year's theme, "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress," highlights the vital role persons with disabilities play in building an inclusive, equitable world.

The day featured a variety of activities, including a rally, sports competitions, a stall exhibition by women with disabilities, and a discussion meeting. With 87 participants, the event successfully raised awareness about the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities in education, employment, and all areas of life. Together, we continue to push for greater accessibility and inclusion for all!

National Symposium: Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Ms. Nasima Akter, President of the NCDW, attended as a panelist and shared her insights on the challenges faced by women with disabilities and the current situation they are experiencing.Government leaders, UN agencies, OPDs, development partners, and youth representatives have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing disability inclusion in Bangladesh

The 2026–2030 Disability-Inclusive National Roadmap was presented to guide future action.

The 16 Days of Activism, held from November 25 to December 10 in Hnila, Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, aimed to raise awareness about violence against women and girls, both with and without disabilities. Over 200 community members participated in the program, which took place across various locations, including Ali Akbar Para, Wabrang, Natmura Para, Pankhali, Alikhali, Fulerdail, Jadimura, and Moulovibazar. The event was organized by the National Council of Disabled Women and funded by Handicap International, the event focused on advocating for the rights and safety of all women and girl.
