‘ছায়ার আশ্রয়’ নামে কলেজ ও বিশ্ববিদ্য়ালয়ের একদল শিক্ষার্থীর সমন্বয়ে গঠিত একটি সংগঠন, যারা সুবিধাবঞ্চিত জনগোষ্ঠীর - বিশেষ করে বস্তি ও নিম্ন আয়ের এলাকার শিশু ও কিশোর-কিশোরীদের নিয়ে কাজ করে, যে সকল শিশু নিজেদের সৃষ্টিশীল কাজ করার বা নিজেদের কথা তুলে ধরার সুযোগ খুব কমই পায়।
এই সংগঠনের উদ্দেশ্য হচ্ছে, সুবিধাবঞ্চিত শিশু-কিশোরদের সৃজনশীল স্বাধীনতা, শেখার সুযোগ এবং পারিপার্শ্বিক অবস্থার ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে নিজেদের প্রকাশ করার জন্য একটি নিরাপদ স্থান সৃষ্টি করা।
আনন্দঘন আবহের মধ্যে গত ২৮ ও ২৯ আগস্ট সংগঠনটি শিশু নীড়ের কনিষ্ঠ শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে দুইদিন ব্যাপী কর্মসুচী পালন করে।

'Chayar Asroy' (Shadow Shelter) is an organization formed by a group of college and university students who work with underprivileged communities - especially children and adolescents from slums and low-income areas, who rarely get the opportunity to do their creative work or express themselves.
The organization aims to create a safe space for underprivileged children and adolescents to express themselves, to give them creative freedom, learning opportunities, and to rise above their circumstances.
In a joyful atmosphere, the organization held a two-day program with the youngest students of Shishu Neer on August 28 and 29.

গত ২৬শে মার্চ ছিল আমাদের গৌরবময় স্বাধীনতা দিবস। তখন চলছিল গ্রীষ্ম ও অন্যান্য দিনের মিলিয়ে দীর্ঘ এক ছুটি। বেশিরভাগ শিশুই গ্রামের বাড়ি বেড়াতে গিয়েছে। কিন্তু এমন একটি দিন একেবারে ফাঁকা যেতে দেয়া যায়না। তাই, যোগাযোগ করে গ্রামে বেড়াতে না যাওয়া যাদের পাওয়া গেল, তারাই দিনটির প্রতি সম্মান জানানোর জন্য একে একে এসে শিশু নীড়ে এসে জড়ো হলো। তারা জাতীয় পতাকা উত্তোলন করল ও সেটাকে অভিবাদন জানাল। সমবেত কন্ঠে তারা জাতীয় সংগীত গাইল। সবশেষে সবাই মিলে দেশপ্রেমমূলক ছায়াছবি দেখল ও আনন্দ করল।
নানা সমস্যাহেতু বিষয়টি সবাইকে জানাতে দেরি হলো বলে দুঃখিত।

Last March 26th was our glorious Independence Day. At that time, there was a long vacation including summer and other days. Most of the children had gone to visit their village homes. But such a day cannot be left completely empty. Therefore, those who were able to contact us and not go to visit the village, came one by one and gathered at Shishu Neer to honor the day. They hoisted the national flag and saluted it. They sang the national anthem in chorus. Finally, everyone watched a patriotic film and enjoyed themselves.

সেই করোনাকাল থেকেই শিশুনীড় যে আর্থিক টানাপোড়েনের মধ্য দিয়ে তাদের কার্যক্রম চালিয়ে আসছে, সেটা অনেকেরই জানা। গত তিন বছর বাচ্চাদের আমরা উৎসবের পোষাক কিনে দিতে পারিনি। কিন্তু তাই বলে সুবিধাবঞ্চিত এই শিশুরা আনন্দবঞ্চিতও থাকেনি। আমাদের বন্ধু, শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষীদের প্রতিবারই আমাদের সীমাবদ্ধতার কথা জানিয়েছি এবং তারাও তাদের অন্তর দিয়ে আমাদের বাচ্চাদের মুখে হাসি অমলিন রাখার চেষ্টার কোনো কমতি রাখেননি। এইবারও আমাদের কতিপয় প্রবাসী ও নিবাসী বন্ধু এবং আমাদের সদস্যের সময়োচিত বদান্যতায় আমরা বাচ্চাদের ঈদের পোষাক দিয়ে হাসিমুখে তাদের বাড়ি পাঠিয়েছি। আমাদের সকলের ঐকান্তিক কৃতজ্ঞতা, শুভকামনা ও প্রার্থনায় এইসব মহানুভব মানুষের কল্যাণ হোক।
ঈদ মুবারক!
Many people know that Shishu Neer has been carrying out its activities under financial constraints since the Corona period. For the last three years, we have not been able to buy festive clothes for the children. But these underprivileged children have not been deprived of joy either. We have informed our friends and well-wishers about our limitations every time, and they have also spared no effort to keep our children smiling with their hearts. This time too, with the timely generosity of some of our expatriate and resident friends and our members, we have sent the children home with Eid dresses and smiles. May the welfare of these great people be blessed with our heartfelt gratitude, good wishes and prayers. Eid Mubarak!

'সবার গেছে কিছু নাহয় কিছু,
আর কেউ দিয়েছে সবই উজাড় করে।
বুক চিতিয়ে কেউ দাঁড়িয়েছিলো
সবুজ জমিন-লাল সূর্যের তরে।'

এই সবুজ ভূমির জন্য অকুতোভয়ে বুকের লাল রক্ত অকাতরে ঢেলে দিয়েছিলো যারা, তাড়া খাওয়া বুনো জন্তুর মত অবর্ণনীয় কষ্ট সয়েছে যেই জনতা, আর নিষ্ঠুর পরিণতি সয়েছে অগণিত যেসব হতভাগিনী,বিজয় দিবসে তাদের প্রতি শিশুনীড়ের অতল শ্রদ্ধা।

'All gave some
And some gave all
And for the green and red
Some stood through tall.'

In the Victory Day, Shishu Neer’s fathomless respect for those who fearlessly shed their red blood for this green land, for the people who suffered indescribable suffering like hunted wild animals, and for the innumerable unfortunate women who suffered cruel consequences.

আজ সাউদার্ন শাওলিন এসোসিয়েশন নামে একটি প্রতিষ্ঠান থেকে আমাদের ২২টি শিশুকে স্কুলব্যাগ উপহার দেওয়া হয়। আমাদের সুবিধাবঞ্চিত শিশুদের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর জন্য তাদেরকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানাই।

Today, 22 of our children were gifted school bags by an organization called the Southern Shaolin Association. We sincerely thank them for standing by our underprivileged children.

এইতো সেদিন আমাদের সবার প্রিয় (শিশুনীড় জার্মানীর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারপারসন, যিনি বর্তমানে ভাইস-চেয়ারপারসন) পামেলা মেটশার আমাদের কেন্দ্র ঘুরে গেলেন। ধন্যবাদ পামেলা আপনার প্রচন্ড কর্মব্যস্ততার মাঝেও আমাদের জন্য খানিকটা সময় বের করার জন্য। আপনি সর্বদাই আমাদের শিশুদের জন্য অনুপ্রেরণা বয়ে এনেছেন।

That day, our dear Pamela Metscher (founding chairperson of Shishuneer Germany, who is presently vice-chairperson) visited our centre. Thank you Pamela for taking some time out of your busy schedule for us. You have always been an inspiration to our children.
