রঙে রঙে ভরে উঠেছিল সমুদ্র—হলুদ, সাদা আর লালের উজ্জ্বল ছোঁয়ায় নতুন বছরের আগমনকে স্বাগত জানাতে ভিড় করেছিলেন অসংখ্য মানুষ। আনন্দ, উৎসব আর উচ্ছ্বাসের এই দিনে, আমাদের লাইফগার্ডরাও ছিলেন একই রঙে সজ্জিত—লাল ও হলুদের শক্তিশালী উপস্থিতিতে।

উৎসবের আনন্দ যেন নিরাপদ থাকে, সেই নিশ্চয়তা দিতে তারা নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে গেছেন, প্রতিটি সৈকত ভ্রমণকারীর পাশে থেকে। নতুন বছরের এই শুরু হোক আনন্দের, আর হোক নিরাপত্তার প্রতিশ্রুতিতে ভরপুর।

The beaches came alive with vibrant colors as people gathered to celebrate the Bengali new year, dressed in shades of yellow, white, and red. Amid the joy, festivity, and excitement, our lifeguards also stood out, wearing red and yellow, symbolizing both celebration and vigilance.

Ensuring that the spirit of the day remained safe for everyone, they worked tirelessly, watching over every beachgoer. May this new year begin with joy, and be filled with a promise of safety for all.

During this Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, Cox's Bazar beaches received nearly 700,000 tourists in just one week, making it one of the busiest periods of the year.

With such a large number of visitors, water safety was critical. Our Lifeguards worked from sunrise to sunset, navigating high tides, managing huge crowds in the water and responding to incidents. Their dedicated presence and coordination played a key role in reducing risks of drowning.

We remain committed to lifesaving and safety ensuring every beachgoer has a good time swimming.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our CSR partner NCC Bank PLC, whose support has been instrumental in sustaining the Lifeguard operations during this peak period.

CIPRB x NCC Bank

A powerful partnership for a safer Cox's Bazar.

We are proud to share that NCC Bank has extended its support to the SeaSafe Lifeguard Service under its CSR commitment, strengthening efforts to address drowning as a critical public health issue in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

The SeaSafe Lifeguard project has been protecting beachgoers 2012 through regular patrols, rescue operations, and awareness building. To date, our lifeguards have saved 1,052 lives and reached millions with drowning prevention messages.

With nearly 18,000 lives lost to drowning every year in Bangladesh, this partnership reflects a shared commitment to public safety, community wellbeing, and sustainable impact.

Government Leaders and CIPRB–RNLI Advance Sustainability Dialogue on SeaSafe Lifeguard Services in Cox’s Bazar

The Honorable Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism (MOCAT), Ministry of Commerce, and Ministry of Textiles and Jute, alongside Nasrin Jahan, Secretary, MOCAT, and Mohammad Salahuddin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Cox’s Bazar, convened a high-level discussion with the major stakeholders of Cox's Bazar.

Representing CIPRB, Prof. Dr. AKM Fazlur Rahman, Executive Director, Dr. Saikhul Islam Helal, Senior Advisor - Govt. Liaison, Dr. Yeasir Iftekhar, Project Manager, SeaSafe and Imteaz Ahmed, Field Team Manager, SeaSafe and representing RNLI, Senior International Programmes Manager, Darren Williams were present at the discussion.

CIPRB presented on the critical situation arising from the scheduled closure of lifeguard services at the end of September, due to conclusion of International donor project funding.

The presentation highlighted:
-The imminent drowning risks associated with discontinuing the lifeguard services.
-The economic importance and tourism impact of lifeguard service in Cox’s Bazar.
-A sustainability roadmap, including proposals for government-led intervention and co-financing through contributions from tourism sector stakeholders such as hotels, motels, and resorts.

Discussing the importance of the lifeguard services as a priority for tourism and public safety, the Honorable Advisor instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar to convene an urgent stakeholder meeting to develop actionable strategies and chart a long-term sustainability plan.

This dialogue marks a significant policy step towards building a sustainable, locally-owned lifeguard service model that protects lives while strengthening the future of Cox’s Bazar as a premier global tourist destination.
