This World Refugee Day, join us for an afternoon of dialogue with H.E. Mr. Ivo Freijsen, Representative of UNHCR in Bangladesh, and Mr. François Chambraud, Director of the Alliance Française de Dhaka, followed by a screening of the award-winning film 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 (𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) 𝗯𝘆 𝗙𝘂𝗷𝗶𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗸𝗶𝗼.

The story of two siblings who must traverse perilous waters to leave their Rohingya camp in Bangladesh and reunite with their family in Malaysia.

𝗔𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲, 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗺.

The screening of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟭 𝗪𝗮𝗿: 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀 by Amirul Arham brought together a full house of engaged viewers, all eager to revisit the history of the Bangladesh Liberation War through a rare and thought-provoking lens.

From shared memories to harsh truths, the film opened up space for reflection, followed by an insightful Q&A session with the filmmaker, where conversations continued beyond the screen.

Grateful for the overwhelming response and the presence of such a vibrant audience who made the evening truly meaningful.

মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইতিহাস ও বহুমাত্রিক ব্যাখ্যাকে নতুন দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে অনুধাবনের প্রয়াসে মুক্তিযুদ্ধ জাদুঘরের চলচ্চিত্র কেন্দ্র আয়োজন করেছে এক বিশেষ প্রামাণ্যচিত্র প্রদর্শনী, “The 1971 War in the Eyes of Pakistanis”. আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতিসম্পন্ন প্যারিস-নিবাসী বাংলাদেশি নির্মাতা আমিরুল আরহাম পরিচালিত এই চলচ্চিত্রটি ১৯৭১ সালের মুক্তিযুদ্ধকালে নির্মমতা ও গণহত্যা পাকিস্তানি জনগণের উপলব্ধি ও প্রতিক্রিয়ার আলোকে বিশ্লেষণ করে। এই প্রামাণ্যচিত্রে তুলে ধরা হয়েছে, সেই সময় পাকিস্তানের সাধারণ মানুষ, সামরিক ও বেসামরিক ব্যক্তিবর্গ কী দেখেছিল, কী জানত এবং বর্তমান তরুণ প্রজন্ম কীভাবে এই ঘটনাকে মূল্যায়ন করে।

চলচ্চিত্রটিতে অংশগ্রহণ করেছেন তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে অবস্থানরত পাকিস্তানি ব্যবসায়ী, শ্রমজীবী মানুষসহ বিভিন্ন পেশার ব্যক্তিরা। পাশাপাশি বর্তমান প্রজন্মের অফিস কর্মী, রাজনীতিবিদ, পাকিস্তানি-বাঙালি সম্প্রদায় এবং সাধারণ নাগরিকদের মতামতও এতে প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে। বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য, পাকিস্তানের সাবেক প্রভাবশালী আমলা, পরবর্তীতে লেখক ও রাজনীতিবিদ রোয়েদাদ খান (১৯২৩–২০২৪) এই চলচ্চিত্রে সাক্ষাৎকার প্রদান করেন এবং ১৯৭১ সালের হত্যাকাণ্ডের জন্য পাকিস্তানের জনগণের পক্ষ থেকে ক্ষমা চান।

এই প্রদর্শনীর পর নির্মাতার সঙ্গে একটি প্রশ্নোত্তর পর্ব অনুষ্ঠিত হবে, যেখানে দর্শকরা সরাসরি তার সঙ্গে মতবিনিময়ের সুযোগ পাবেন। প্রদর্শনীটি শিক্ষার্থী, গবেষক, চলচ্চিত্রপ্রেমীসহ সকলের জন্য উন্মুক্ত।

Through candid interviews with former Pakistani military personnel, business leaders, politicians, the Pakistani-Bengali community, and today’s youth, the film captures a diverse range of perspectives on a shared history.

The Film Center of the Liberation War Museum invites you to the screening of 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟭 𝗪𝗮𝗿: 𝗜𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝗸𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀, a documentary film by Paris-based Bangladeshi filmmaker & poet Amirul Arham. Followed by a Q&A Session with the Filmmaker.

Synopsis: A half-century after the Bangladesh Liberation War, a documentary explores what ordinary Pakistanis knew, believed, and felt about the conflict, uncovering memories, silences, and rare admissions of remorse, including a powerful apology from a former state insider.
