WildTeam’s Cleanup Campaign 2026 Begins Across the Sundarbans!

From 16 August 2026, WildTeam has launched a cleanup campaign across three ranges of the Sundarbans — Chandpai, Sarankhola and Satkhira.

The campaign will be conducted in 15 schools across these three ranges and will continue until 23 August 2026.

Through this campaign, WildTeam aims to:
♻️ Promote awareness about plastic pollution and its harmful impacts on nature and wildlife
🌱 Encourage students and communities to keep their surroundings and the Sundarbans clean
🤝 Inspire collective action and responsible waste management practices
🐅 Build greater awareness and responsibility for protecting the unique ecosystem of the Sundarbans

Together, let’s take action for a cleaner, healthier and plastic-free Sundarbans. 💚

🌱 সবুজে সমৃদ্ধ হোক শরণখোলা, বাঁচুক প্রকৃতি ও বন্যপ্রাণী 🐅

সুন্দরবন সংলগ্ন শরণখোলা উপজেলায় পরিবেশ ও জীববৈচিত্র্য সংরক্ষণে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে শিক্ষার্থী, টাইগারস্কাউট, ভিলেজ টাইগার রেসপন্স টিম (VTRT) এবং বাঘবন্ধুদের মাঝে ফলজ ও বনজ চারা বিতরণ করা হয়েছে।

এই উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে একদিকে যেমন স্থানীয় মানুষের মাঝে বৃক্ষরোপণ ও পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণের গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরা হচ্ছে, অন্যদিকে সুন্দরবনের জীববৈচিত্র্য রক্ষায় স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর অংশগ্রহণ আরও জোরদার হচ্ছে। 🌿

আজকের একটি চারা আগামী দিনের ছায়া, খাদ্য ও জীববৈচিত্র্যের আশ্রয়স্থল হয়ে উঠতে পারে। আসুন, সবাই মিলে গড়ে তুলি আরও সবুজ ও প্রাণবৈচিত্র্যে সমৃদ্ধ একটি সুন্দর শরণখোলা। 💚

WildTeam organized a tree sapling distribution event on 4 August 2026 in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, to promote environmental conservation and community participation in greening initiatives.
A total of 400 saplings were distributed among members of the Village Tiger Response Teams (VTRTs), BaghBandhu volunteers, TigerScouts, EarthScouts, EarthMentors, tiger widows, and six local high schools. Through this initiative, WildTeam continues to encourage local communities and young people to contribute to biodiversity conservation and build a greener, more resilient future.
গত ৪ আগস্ট ২০২৬ তারিখ সাতক্ষীরার শ্যামনগরে ওয়াইল্ডটিমের উদ্যোগে বৃক্ষরোপণ ও চারা বিতরণ কর্মসূচি সফলভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।
পরিবেশ সংরক্ষণ এবং সবুজ বাংলাদেশ গড়ার প্রত্যয়ে মোট ৪০০টি বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির গাছের চারা বিতরণ করা হয়। এই কর্মসূচির আওতায় চারা গ্রহণ করেন ভিলেজ টাইগার রেসপন্স টিম (VTRT) সদস্য, বাঘবন্ধু, আর্থস্কাউট, আর্থমেন্টর, টাইগারস্কাউট, বাঘের আক্রমণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত বাঘ বিধবা পরিবার এবং শ্যামনগরের ৬টি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়।
গাছ শুধু পরিবেশের ভারসাম্য রক্ষা করে না, এটি জীববৈচিত্র্য সংরক্ষণ, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের প্রভাব মোকাবিলা এবং ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ পৃথিবী গড়তে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখে। স্থানীয় জনগণ ও শিক্ষার্থীদের সম্পৃক্ত করে এই উদ্যোগ সুন্দরবন সংলগ্ন এলাকায় সবুজায়ন ও প্রকৃতি সংরক্ষণের বার্তা আরও ছড়িয়ে দেবে।
আসুন, আমরা সবাই একটি করে গাছ লাগাই, পরিচর্যা করি এবং একটি সবুজ, নিরাপদ ও টেকসই ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে তুলি।

Global Tiger Day 2026

Today, on Global Tiger Day, we celebrate the Bengal tiger-an iconic symbol of the Bangladesh Sundarbans and a reminder of the importance of protecting one of the world's most unique ecosystems. According to the latest Bangladesh Forest Department tiger census, the Bangladesh Sundarbans are home to an estimated 125 wild Bengal tigers, reflecting the positive impact of sustained conservation efforts.

To mark the occasion, WildTeam, in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Bangladesh Forest Department, organised Global Tiger Day celebrations across both the East and West Divisions of the Sundarbans. The events featured colorful rallies, art and essay competitions, and interactive discussion sessions, bringing together students, teachers, local communities, government officials, and conservation partners to raise awareness and inspire collective action for tiger conservation.

For more than a decade, WildTeam has been working alongside the Bangladesh Forest Department and local communities to reduce human–tiger conflict, strengthen community-based conservation, build local capacity, promote conservation education, and support scientific monitoring of tigers and their habitats. By empowering people living around the Sundarbans, WildTeam is helping create a future where both people and tigers can thrive.

The event is organized under the Integrated Tiger Habitat Conservation Programme (ITHCP), an initiative implemented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and funded by the German Cooperation via KfW Development Bank.
