সুস্থ ও দীর্ঘ জীবনের রহস্য হয়তো অনেক বেশি পাওয়ার মাঝে নেই। রয়েছে পরিমিতিবোধ ও আত্মনিয়ন্ত্রণের মাঝে।

জাপানিরা এই প্রাচীন দর্শনটাকে বলে — Hara Hachi Bu (腹八分目)।
এর মূল শিক্ষা হলো—
পেট ৮০% ভরলেই খাওয়া থামিয়ে দিন।
পরিমিতিবোধকে সম্মান করুন।
নিজের শরীর ও স্বাস্থ্যের প্রতি যত্নশীল হোন।
অতিরিক্ত নয়, পরিমিতিতেই সন্তুষ্টি খুঁজুন।

যখন আমরা অতিরিক্ত ভোগ পরিহার করি, তখন শুধু আমাদের শারীরিক শক্তিই বাড়ে না—মনও হয়ে ওঠে শান্ত ও শৃঙ্খলিত।

"Eat until you are eight parts full, leave two parts empty."

সুস্থতা ও প্রাণবন্ততা আসে মাত্রাতিরিক্ত গ্রহণ থেকে নয়, বরং আত্মসংযম ও সচেতন জীবনযাপন থেকে।

এই শৃঙ্খলা একদিনে গড়ে ওঠে না। এটি প্রতিদিনের সচেতন অনুশীলনের ফল।
