Starting from FY 2028–29, the fiscal year will shift from the current July–June cycle to April–March. Before that, FY 2027–28 will be a 9-month transition period.

But what does this mean beyond the government budget?
For businesses and startups, a change in the fiscal cycle can influence how they approach budgeting, cash flow, forecasting, investment, and annual business planning.

For entrepreneurs, policy changes like this are more than administrative decisions, they shape the environment in which businesses start, grow, invest and create jobs.

Building a successful startup is not always about having a great idea. Sometimes, the real lessons come from understanding what went wrong, testing the right way, and knowing whether your product truly fits the market.

Meet one of the participants of Season 5, who shares the key lessons from their startup journey and the factors that contributed to its failure, including pilot testing, pricing strategy, and product-market fit.

One of the major challenges was pilot testing. Instead of properly testing the product on a smaller scale, the team jumped directly into the market. This made it difficult to identify and solve potential challenges before entering the market at a larger scale.
Another important factor was the pricing strategy. Since grocery product prices can fluctuate throughout the day, maintaining consistent and effective pricing was challenging. The team struggled to develop a pricing strategy that could adapt to these frequent price changes. The journey also highlighted the importance of product-market fit. If the same category of product had been launched in a city with a larger customer base, the chances of success might have been higher. The relatively limited customer base and market capacity within the campus also contributed to the challenges faced by the startup.

As part of Season 5, Preneur Lab Youth & Innovation Trust, successfully organized an intensive Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and Policy Reform Lab at the University of Barisal in association with the Barishal University Business Club (BUBC), bringing together 60 aspiring young entrepreneurs for a day of learning, collaboration, and innovation.

Throughout the bootcamp, participants explored entrepreneurship, idea generation, market validation, customer discovery, and policy reform through interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and team discussions. They gained practical insights into transforming ideas into viable ventures while examining how policy can shape a more enabling environment for entrepreneurship.
