HOPE worldwide Bangladesh & VFS Global Support 1000 Flood-Affected Families in Sunamganj
In response to the recent severe flash floods in Sylhet Division, HOPE worldwide Bangladesh, with support from VFS Global, launched relief drive on 22 September to support vulnerable families in Fatehpur Union, Bishwambarpur Upazila, Sunamganj.
Following a rapid field assessment, 1,000 flood-affected households across seven worst-hit villages were identified for assistance.
To ensure fair distribution, local volunteers used special boats to deliver relief directly to the doorsteps of families in waterlogged and hard-to-reach areas, giving top priority to the elderly, children, and persons with special needs.
Relief packages include essential food items such as rice, lentil, cooking oil, potatoes, onions, and salt.
At HOPE worldwide Bangladesh, we remain committed to standing with communities in times of crisis—bringing help, hope, and practical support to those who need it most.

HOPE worldwide Bangladesh, in partnership with VFS Global, inaugurated its second School of HOPE in Savar. Building on the successful launch of the first school in Ashulia last year, the two schools will collectively provide access to free, quality education for over 300 children, while also offering vocational training opportunities to 240 women and youth annually.
The inauguration brought together Mohammad Alamgir Hossain, Primary Education Officer, Savar Upazila, and representatives from VFS Global to celebrate this important milestone with the children and reaffirm their shared commitment to transforming lives through education.

Success Story: Polash Chakma – Rising Above Poverty Through Education and Determination

Polash Chakma, a Class Eight student at Jamgara School of HOPE, is a shining example of how education and opportunity can transform a child's future. He enrolled at the school on 1 February 2026 after his family relocated from Khagrachari to Dhaka in search of a better livelihood.
Coming from a family of five, Polash has faced significant financial hardship. His father now earns a modest income by selling vegetables, while his mother works in a garment factory. Together, they earn approximately BDT 18,000 (USD 145) per month, making it difficult to meet the family's basic needs. Recognizing their situation, Jamgara School of HOPE provided educational support not only to Polash but also to his younger brother and sister, enabling all three children to continue their education.
Despite these challenges, Polash has demonstrated exceptional perseverance, discipline, and talent. In 2026, he became the Bangladesh Judo Champion in the Under-14 Year, Under-45 kg category at the Notun Kuri National Competition. In recognition of this outstanding achievement, he proudly received his championship award from the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Mr. Tarique Rahman. This milestone reflects his unwavering determination and commitment to excellence.
Polash dreams of representing Bangladesh as a member of the national judo team. With continued support from HOPE worldwide Bangladesh, dedicated teachers, and generous donors, he is steadily moving toward that goal. His inspiring journey demonstrates that when vulnerable children receive quality education, encouragement, and opportunity, they can overcome poverty, achieve extraordinary success, and become a source of hope for their communities.

In partnership with VFS Global, HOPE worldwide Bangladesh celebrated World Environment Day with a vibrant tree plantation drive in Dhaka recently.

Volunteers – including VFS Global employees, alongside students and staff from three schools in Ashulia – came together to plant a diverse range of fruit, timber, and medicinal saplings including students and staff planted a diverse range of fruit, timber, and medicinal saplings across three schools in Ashulia, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.

Beyond plantation, the employees also connected with students through fun indoor and outdoor games, creating moments of joy and learning. The initiative not only promoted environmental awareness but also fostered teamwork, friendship, and community spirit among students, guests, and school staff.
