The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Bangladesh has a wide scope of activities ranging from volunteers recruitment to resource mobilization, from advocacy campaigns on MDGs and Human Rights to training, from research to project design, from UN system support to partnership building and emergency response.

বাংলাদেশ এ জাতিসংঘ স্বেচ্ছাসেবক কর্মসূচি এর যে ব্যাপক কার্যক্রম রয়েছে তার মধ্যে

আছে স্বেচ্ছাসেবক নিয়োগ প্রদান থেকে শুরু করে সম্পদ সংগ্রহ ও ব্যাবহার, সহস্রাব্দ উন্নয়ন লক্ষ্যমাত্রা এবং মানবাধিকার এর উপর পরামর্শ এবং শিক্ষা প্রদান, গবেষণা থেকে শুরু করে পরিকল্পনা, জাতিসংঘ ব্যাবস্থাপনা সহায়তা থেকে শুরু করে অংশীদারিত্ব নির্মাণ এবং জরুরী প্রতিক্রিয়া প্রদান।

UN Volunteers serving in Dhaka came together for a dynamic town hall titled “Together in Harmony”, creating space for meaningful exchange, shared learning and connection.

The session highlighted diverse experiences, practical insights, and a strong sense of community among volunteers contributing to various UN initiatives across Bangladesh.

Ms. Sonia Mehzabeen, Country Coordinator, UNV Bangladesh, reflected on the progress of the UN Volunteers programme in 2025 and shared her aspirations for the year ahead, including updates on the Unified Conditions of Service for UN Volunteers. Through an open and interactive dialogue, she checked in on volunteers’ wellbeing, addressed their questions and welcomed innovative ideas shaping the future of volunteerism.

The gathering also resonated with the spirit of the International Volunteer Year 2026, reinforcing our shared commitment to service, solidarity and sustainable impact.

Please welcome Mr. Srayash Nandi Soumik who joined UNOPS Bangladesh as a Junior Research Assistant in Dhaka.

He will support the team in research, reporting, coordination, and implementation of green and sustainable building initiatives.

Previously, Srayash worked as an Architect at Kazi Fida Architects and at Studio Dhaka ltd.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

He shares, “I am excited to join the team, contribute meaningfully and support our shared goals with dedication. I am also committed to doing my best in the responsibilities entrusted to me”
