For Takia Islam Toma, Project Assistant at United Nations Development Programme in Bangladesh, one lesson from the Effective Communication workshop stood out: effective communication is not about speaking more, but listening better.
As we look ahead to , her message to fellow volunteers is clear: never underestimate the power of clear communication. Sometimes, a well-communicated idea can have a greater impact than the best idea that isn't understood.

Ruchika Bahl, Head of ILO Project Office, Cox’s Bazar, encouraged to reflect on volunteering not simply as an assignment, but as a mindset that can shape the way we learn, lead, and contribute throughout our careers.

Drawing from her own experiences, she encouraged UN Volunteers to carry forward the purpose, commitment, and energy that define volunteerism. At the recently held Capacity Development Learning Workshop on Effective Communications, Ruchika’s motivational session reminded participants that the values and spirit of volunteering continue to influence how we connect with others, navigate challenges, and create meaningful impact long after a volunteer assignment ends.

Not every message is easy to deliver, especially when people aren’t ready to hear it.

For Shohel Rana, Partnership Officer at UNICEF Bangladesh, one of the challenges he faces is sharing important information when people are not receptive to the message.
