A LIFE THAT CHANGED MILLIONS 🕊️
As we mark 90 years since the birth of Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, we are once again drawn to a life that quietly redefined service, dignity and the possibilities of human existence.
Born in 1936, a young man once stepped into the corporate world life of structure and certainty. But history had a different script waiting for him. The cyclone of 1970 and the Liberation War of 1971 became the turning points that reshaped him forever. He did not return to comfort. He chose a purpose. In 1972, amid the ruins of a newly independent Bangladesh, he founded BRAC, not just an organization but as a belief: that if we trust and support people, they can rebuild their own lives with dignity.
The world recognized his extraordinary contribution with many honors, including being appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG), along with numerous other prestigious awards. Yet, he remained almost timeless in his simplicity.
He once said:
“I am happy that my life is not wasted.”
On this day, the BRAC University History Club (BUHC) pays heartfelt respect to a visionary whose legacy continues to move quietly through millions of lives today.
