🔵 Stories shape how we see the world, and they can shape a more equal one too.

In Dhaka, scriptwriters and media professionals came together for a workshop on gender-sensitive storytelling, exploring how scripts can challenge stereotypes and promote more inclusive narratives in television and digital media.

Organised under the Shomotay Tarunno: Youth for Equality project by Plan International Bangladesh and JAAGO Foundation Trust , with support from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangladesh and in collaboration with the Television Playwrights Association of Bangladesh, the workshop brought together diverse voices to drive change.

Through dialogue, reflection and practical sessions, participants unpacked how everyday storytelling influences attitudes towards gender; and how more responsible, thoughtful scripts can help reduce bias and violence.

Because when stories change, mindsets follow. And when storytellers lead that change, equal future becomes possible.

🔵 Young people are not waiting to be included, they are already leading change.

At the Youth Conclave 2026 in Dhaka, young leaders, policymakers and partners came together to push for meaningful youth engagement in governance and civic spaces, where participation goes beyond consultation to real influence.

This is about meaningful youth participation, not tokenism, where young people shape decisions, not just contribute to them.

The Youth Equality Award 2026 recognised six inspiring youth-led organisations - Jeans2Totes, Youth Action for Development, Coastal Education & Diversity Improvement Organization, FFCRJ Youth Development Organization, CapeC, and Noboprobhaat Foundation, turning ideas into action. With support from Dr Gazi Md Saifuzzaman and Kabita Bose, these initiatives reflect the power of youth-led solutions.

We will continue to advance meaningful youth engagement by sharing power, resources and responsibility with young people; until we are all equal. ✊

Health is a right, not a privilege.
This World Health Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring every child; especially girls and young women can access quality healthcare.

Because when young people are healthy, they can learn, lead, and thrive.

To make a reality, we’re working to:
• Empower girls with knowledge of their rights
• Strengthen community-led health solutions
• Advocate for inclusive systems that leave no one behind
Health should never depend on where you’re born or your gender.

🔵 Equality & Justice in a Changing Bangladesh

As Bangladesh navigates a shifting political landscape, a coalition of leading organisations brought together government, policymakers, civil society, and development partners in Dhaka to advocate for stronger commitments to women’s and children’s rights.

The Coalition for Advancing Equality and Justice, comprising seven prominent organisations, convened a high-level dialogue titled “Equality and Justice in the Changing Landscape of Bangladesh”. Before 13th national election, this coalition had engaged 14 political parties to promote an inclusive and just election manifesto, and today’s discussion analysed how parties aligned their manisfesto with the recommendations from the coalition.

The dialogue reinforced the vital role of collaboration between government, civil society, and development partners in driving systemic change.

As Bangladesh enters a new phase of its development journey, the Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to working collectively to advance a future where equality, justice, and dignity are upheld for all. The event concluded with a shared call to action for all stakeholders to move beyond commitments and deliver measurable progress for women and children across the country.

Breaking boundaries on the cricket pitch! 🏏

In Nilphamari, northern Bangladesh, a pioneering youth initiative is redefining gender norms. The “Batting for Change (B4C) Cricket Tournament 2026” recently brought girls and boys together to compete side by side in the area's first mixed-gender tournament. Held at Mirgonjhat ML High School in Jaldhaka, the event was organised by Plan International Bangladesh and local partner ESDO to promote gender equality through inclusive sports.

The tournament featured two teams. Unity Strikers and Equality Warriors. with girls making up the majority of the 26 young players, putting their leadership front and centre. With an estimated 1,000 attendees showing their support, the event proved that when girls are empowered to lead and participate equally, communities move closer to a future defined by fairness, respect, and opportunity for all.

"I want every girl in our camp to feel confident to speak up and take part in building a better community."- Noor, 17.

In a symbolic , Noor, a Rohingya adolescent from Cox’s Bazar, stepped into the role of senior assistant secretary Khanjada Shahriar Bin Mannan, Camp-in-Charge of Camp-24, for a day — leading with confidence and sharing her vision of a community where girls can learn, lead, and live free from violence.

Noor’s journey as a youth advocate began through the Champion of Change, a life skill programme, implemented by Friends In Village Development Bangladesh - FIVDB with technical support from Plan International Bangladesh and supported by Plan International Sverige. After completing the sessions, she began working with the community-based child protection committee (CBCPC), raising community issues in public forums and taking real action — preventing three child marriages, supporting children to continue their studies, and promoting hygiene and safety in her block.

This event is part of Plan International’s global Girls Takeover campaign, marking the International Day of the Girl 2025, and celebrating girls leading change on the frontlines of crisis. We stand with Noor — and with every girl leading change on the frontlines of crisis.
