Jiban Bikash Karjocrom - JBK Jiban Bikash Karjocrom (JBK) is an NGO Jiban Bikash Karjocrom (JBK) was established in 1999 as a non-profit and voluntary research organization.

Since its inception, the organization dedicated itself to work for sustainable development. With this in the focus, JBK has been addressing the issues that are identified as the barriers towards environmental sustainability and poverty alleviation. The organization later gave attention to run some programmes to work closely with the farmers to raise agricultural productivity and ensure food securi

ty by providing knowledge of modern technology. JBK further expanded its work area by initiating capacity building programme on climate change adaptation and mitigation. It is now a reality that climate change, unplanned urbanization and deforestation having diverse consequences on the socio-economic development of the country. JBK feels it is necessary to attach these facts with all sorts of its future programmes.

Jiban Bikash Karjocrom (JBK) is honored and so much delighted to conduct a study for the first time in Bangladesh in the name of “Bee Carrying Capacity & Flowering (Nectar) Plant Assessment at Horikhola Village, Whykeong Forest Range, Under the Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division”. The project was funded by UNHCR and IUCN Bangladesh.
Based on the Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC) mitigation tools, IUCN Bangladesh has launched the pilot project at Horikhola Village of Whykeong forest range, under the Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division.
Since the inception of the project November 2021, in a view of fulfillment the objective of Bee fence installation at the project area, the implementing agency IUCN Bangladesh selected 10 farmers for honey production activity. Necessary initial training also they have conducted in line with their ultimate goal. Very beginning they have started only 3 bee hives and later next year they have increased the number 6 hives along with the augment of the bee have farmers more 7. In the year 2024, a significant development has been occurred having with engagement of 20 farmers and revamp the number of the bee hives to reach 27 boxes.
In order to make a sustainable project, IUCN has launched a study under the title of ‘Bee Carrying Capacity & Flowering (Nectar) Plan Assessment’ at the project area which was conducted by Jiban Bikash Karjocrom. The total tenure of the study was 3 months having with the scope of 10 outcomes.

It gives us immense pleasure to share the book Methodological Framework for Ecological Monitoring of Sundarbans. We (JBK) are very Privilege to get such reach activity which is very exception in relation to our Sundarbans. The study covers merely all Fauna species and our side we have contributed for preparation of Bees and Butterfly monitoring framework model. The study was done very initial level at this moment but a detail activity likely to be held onward with leadership of IUCN and GIZ.
