Dr. Rabbee Foundation

Dr. Rabbee Foundation The main goal of this organization is to bring about change in the lives of the people of Bangladesh, especially women and children.

In Bangladesh, women faces serious discrimination. 5% of 10-14 and 50% of 15-19 year old girls are married. By the age of 19 nearly 60% girls had children-all have very negative impact on their health, education and overall life. In order to make women aware about their own rights, Fazlee Rabbee Foundation has been conducting awareness training. Recently, this training has been extended to male me

mbers and in-laws of group member’s families. The Fazle Rabbee foundation was founded in memory of Dr. Fazle Rabbee, who was a renowned cardiologist. He was born in the year 1932 in Satiany, a small village at the district of Pabna in northern Bangladesh. He completed MRCP (London) and MRCP Edinburgh U.K and was Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at the Dhaka Medical College in Bangladesh. He was admired for his progressive thinking and medical contribution to the Bangladeshi society. Dr Rabbee himself was a humanitarian who provided free medical care to thousands of poor patients and was well known for his medical approach to patients. Dr. Rabbee was a well respected intellectual and helped many freedom fighters of Bangladesh with their medical needs and financial problems. It was because of these reasons he was captured and killed in the Bengali intellectual killing on December 14, 1971, two days before the end of the Independence war of Bangladesh.
