The American Alumni Association (AAA) had the honor of hosting its Annual Iftar 2026, which brought together members of our vibrant alumni community, distinguished guests, and valued partners for an evening of reflection, connection, and celebration during the blessed month of Ramadan.
We were delighted to welcome representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, including Mr. Scott Hartmann (Director of Public Engagement), Ms. Leena Khan (Labor Attaché), Ms. Poornima Rai (Spokesperson), Mr. Jonathan Gomes (Youth Engagement Specialist), Ms. Rifat Swapnil (Education Outreach Coordinator), and we were especially pleased to welcome Ms. Monica Shie, the new Public Affairs Officer. Their continued support played an important role in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The evening also featured a special recognition ceremony honoring U.S. alumnus and Member of Parliament from Chittagong-10, Mr. Sayeed Al Noman, in recognition of his achievements and contributions.
AAA reaffirmed its commitment to building a dynamic network of U.S.-educated alumni who continue to contribute to Bangladesh’s development through leadership, mentorship, and community engagement.
The President of AAA extended sincere gratitude to the generous sponsors, GPH Ispat Ltd. and United Commercial Bank PLC., as well as to AAA Life Member Mohammad Tasikuzzaman for their valued support in making the event possible.
The AAA Executive Council thanked everyone who joined and helped make the evening memorable. The Association looks forward to continuing to strengthen its alumni community and partnerships in the years ahead.
