Advancing global collaboration

We are delighted to congratulate two undergraduate students ( Md. Shaminur Rashid and Md. Abu Nayem) from the Department of Software Engineering, Daffodil International University, on receiving the prestigious Mitacs Globalink Research Award.

They will undertake a 12-week research internship in Canada, in collaboration with Algoma University, working on the project titled
“Quantum-Assisted Web Application Firewall with Automated Rule Generation.”
Each intern will receive CAD 6,000 to support their research activities.

Core research focus

This collaboration aims to advance automated, adaptive, and quantum-enabled web application protection while strengthening international research partnerships.

A delegation from the Defence Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC) visited Daffodil International University (DIU) yesterday, marking a significant step toward strengthening academic-defense collaboration in cybersecurity, strategic education, and other domains.

The delegation was led by Chief Instructor Brigadier General Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, afwc, psc, and was warmly received by the university leadership. The meeting was graced by the presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M.R. Kabir, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Masum Iqbal, Professor Prof. Dr. Md. Fokhray Hossain, Head of SWE Prof. Dr. Imran Mahmud, Director of Cyber Security Centre Dr-Rubaiyat Islam, Head of CSE Prof. Dr. Sheak Rashed Haider Noori, and Dean of Business Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rokibul Kabir, along with other distinguished faculty members and officials.

During the session, Dr. Rubaiyat Islam delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the activities, research initiatives, training programs, and industry collaborations of the DIU Cyber Security Centre. The presentation emphasized practical cybersecurity solutions, AI-driven security research, digital forensics capabilities, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with national and global security priorities.

Following the meeting, the DSCSC delegation participated in a guided tour of the Cyber Security Centre and various facilities across Daffodil Smart City, where they explored DIU’s smart infrastructure, advanced labs, and innovation ecosystem.

The visit concluded with fruitful discussions on potential collaboration between DIU and DSCSC, particularly in the areas of academic partnership, joint research, and the development of customized cybersecurity curricula tailored to defence and strategic needs.
