Today is the birthday of Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (1857-1941), founder of world Scouting. As Scouting becomes ever more diverse, I found this quote from B-P to be especially timely:

“Scouting is a brotherhood – a scheme which in practice disregards differences of class, creed, country, and color, through the undefinable spirit that pervades it – the spirit of God’s gentlemen.”

Today, January 8, marks the 83rd death anniversary of Robert Stephenson Smith, Lord Baden Powell of Gilwell, the founder of World Scouts. The founder of scouts was born on 22nd February 1857 and passed away on 8th January 1941. During his lifetime he founded the Scouting program. He said - “The true way to happiness is to make others happy. He also said "Try to leave this beautiful world a little better than you found it. When your turn comes to die, you can die happily feeling that you have not wasted your life. Truly, every word of his will be remembered forever."
